Came across a short video today that looked like a scene from a big-budget movie… turns out it was entirely AI-generated. The lighting, faces, movement, even the voice-  all of it looked totally legit.

Honestly, it freaked me out a bit. Makes you wonder: in a few years, are we even going to need actors, devs, or animators? Movies, games, trailers - AI could be pumping this stuff out in hours, not years.

Why wait a decade for something like GTA 6 when AI might be able to build a whole world from a prompt?

And the bigger question— how are we supposed to trust any video on the internet when it's basically impossible to tell what's real anymore?  Huh

Google recently released an update to its AI video generation app Veo 3.

Its said to represent a significant improvement over previous software and the effects of it can be felt all over social media and the internet.

With a steep uptick in video clips that look real but aren't.

Yep, in addition, it's just another tool to generate videos. This tool is specifically tailored for movie productions. And what's next? The most recent thing I've seen is scamming. People just take someone's relative's picture. Generate a video or voice message.

Still, it's worth mentioning users skip AI-generated content. I mean, of course, sometimes we can't understand, but we discover it = 100% skip.

Yes, this is also possible through Google VEO3. In fact, I have also been watching these videos a lot on social media and these videos are currently trending. Some may be flying in the sky, some may be reading the news, and some may be becoming superheroes. These are being made only through prompts. In fact, it is surprising that only two years ago we were introduced to AI through chat GPT, but in these two years, how much the world has changed that now we can generate very realistic videos through AI. We may not even be able to imagine how much technology will improve in the future. Honestly, it is like a revolution for us.

Yes, it may be a little difficult for ordinary people to understand this. But for technical people or those who run social media, it is not a problem. In fact, just by listening to the voices of the videos generated with AI, you can understand that it is an AI generator. However, their expressions are quite realistic.

Unfortunately, the next step is that we will no longer be able to distinguish between fake news and real news.

AI has already fully produced a movie and it cost $400USD.

People still want to see big names in movies, so I think the studios will introduce AI characters slowly interacting with the real people, until the AI has as many fans as the human.  Hopefully then movie prices will drop since they are not paying ridiculous salaries.    This doesn't mean actors will lose work, because it's easy today to become a producer.   And who will cry over these people losing a $50,000,000USD a year in royalties?   Roll Eyes

Well yes you are right about this. There is alot of videos done by AI that we can not even tell if it is a real video or not. And some of these videos are very tricky we do not know if it is even AI or if it is real people and things in the video.

And I do wish we would be able to have GTA 6 more soon.  But it is going to be coming out soon in less then 1 year I do think.

A week or two ago I saw something of the kind and it produced the same funnily uneasy sensation. It is thrilling and yet frightening. That AI can now create videos, voices, and even emotions on faces that are so realistic, it somewhat shocks your reality. Such as then tomorrow someone can post a fraudulent news video and people will accept that as the genuine truth because it appeared normal? That is the aspect that concerns me the most.

With jobs, I believe that there will be a change as opposed to an outright replacement. Human creativity will not be lost and perhaps only the tools will be different. Animators and writers may switch more towards being directors who control the AI and do not have to do everything manually. Nevertheless, the thought that you could create a GTA level game by simply explaining it to a computer is crazy. We are entering a weird uncharted universe.

Really getting scary. It's hard to tell which video is real anymore. I also saw a video online where one of the leaders of the country is was furiously saying on live TV that single people needs to be arrested and everything looked so real that even the lips were moving exactly in line with what he is saying.

I know it can't be true but everything looked so real.

A little bit off-topic, but. A couple of months ago there was a thing regarding AI generated images: text (mistakes from AI) and fingers. AI, never knew how to generate them. So, it's was somehow a trigger to understand: Ai or not. Now, AI can generate fingers perfectly.

Are there any other things you pay attention to? Eyes, etc? Maybe, there is something with the video?

true - fingers and text used to be dead giveaways, but AI catching up fast. Still, I wouldn’t say it’s (perfect) yet. Eyes, depth, and context in complex scenes can still feel off sometimes.

But honestly, give it 2–3 more years, and even those flaws might disappear. What’s scary is - we might soon not be able to tell the difference at all.

buy a polaroid camera as it is harder to fake a polaroid shot.
