A scammer almost scammed a U.S woman using his password and information, secure 🔐 your phone though the guy impersonating using the picture of Elon musk chatting the lady to tell him the password of his Bitcoin account because the scammer already knows  that the woman. Deal on Bitcoin so they have been chatting for long time now so to cut a long story to be short,the woman decided to agreed in telling him the password to his Bitcoin,but she asked the scammer some questions since he said he's Elon musk because the woman knows  Elon  musk very well,so she ask the scammer why he  want to know about his Bitcoin account so question upon ,the scammer open up telling her that he need some money 💰🤑 so the woman now told him that since they know each other that he would have just tell her that he needs some money instead of asking for her Bitcoin account details,the woman said that she will send him some money 💰 the woman went to buy itune card worth 30 million as she was about sending the money they ask her in the store who are you sending the money to ,she said Elon musk,they laugh 😂

They now told her that Elon musk can never ask her for money,the woman started showing them chats ,they now told the woman to go home that this person impersonating Elon musk,let's be very careful of how we disclose our information so that no one can scam you along the line ,if someone knows your password to your Bitcoin account your name is sorry ,they will finish everything and close the account for your ,secure your account,when you are done with your work log out ,is only you that know your password be careful.

Unfortunately there are tens of millions of dollars getting stolen by these scammers every year.

The fact that AI has been really good right now and almost indistinguishable to the real thing should call for a further education against the misuse of AI specifically theft like this, the target is always elderly people since they aren't well versed with technology.

On the other hand I think that elderly people should have whitelisted and blacklisted number on their phone to prevent scams like this since they are really vulnerable, that's just my 2 cents though.

Celebrities never DM first.

It's always true and if there is another red flag like DM first for sensitive information like account passwords, wallet mnemonic seed or private key, any request for money, it's enough to conclude the person DMs you is a scammer.

This story is hard to believe because why would Elon Musk contact this women and out of all the people on the planet, Elon Musk definately doesn't need any more money.

Either way I understand what you are saying. This is similar to a women who got scammed because she got tricked by an Deepfake AI clone of Brad Pitt. She believed it was him and send some money to a scammer. The way deepfake has improved in the past few years is crazy and I am not surprised why people are getting scammed by this.

It’s better we don’t trust anyone we see on social media, even if we receive messages from accounts which we know asking for funds or sensitive informations, we should make sure we look for alternative means to confirm the person chatting with you is real, because we know accounts can be compromised, so when having conversations with anyone in social media, we just have to be very careful.

Also I will say we shouldn’t joke with our security, our password is not what we should share online, your password is what you are suppose to properly secure, if anyone have access to your seed phrase, then they will be able to steal all the bitcoin you having in your wallet, so it’s better it’s properly secured, and make sure you don’t trust anyone with your seed phrase.

With internet scams on the rise and many cases of scams here and there, I would expect people to at least know the common scams so they can be able to avoid them.

Tbh, I'm glad the shop owner stepped in and saved the woman, but come on! The woman should have known it was a scam right from the onset. How can the world's richest man ask her for money? Perhaps the scammer uses deep fake and uses Elon Musk image to try to dupe the lady. And I will assume that she is old and fragile which is the target of many scammers because they can easily deceived this senior citizens.

And not just in crypto, you can see a lot of videos in youtube about how this scammers and where they are based and really targeting this demographics in the US. They have a mule in the US and that's where the senior send their money.

In this case, it's crypto so scammers are directly targeting them and trying to get the password so that this scammers will have accessed to their crypto wallet or any other financial information that they can get.

I am wondering how this could be true and buying an iTunes card worth of 30 million could also be possible. Sometimes when formulating stories we should be very mindful on the kind of stories that should be shared, or maybe if such stories is emanating from the social media it's best advisable to attached the link or article to where such story's had already been shared maybe people could had just go through the link to read than just cooking up stories even doing copy and paste.

There are the elderly that are looking for love and many of them are being socially-engineered to open up.

You'd be surprised how stubborn they can be even after being persuaded by family members/ friends.
