For those mainly in Altcoins like me, when do you plan to start taking profits?

Looks like the answer is… never 😅
Because after yesterday’s bloodbath, most altcoin holders are right back to being long-term "investors" — aka just bagholding through another dip.

Another thing we can also consider with these altcoins is there ability not to rise even at the altcoins season, because it is sure that not all of them rises, while on the bid to continue with holding them, some may continue to go dip and their value never appreciates back to where it start falling, that is why they posses more risk to invest as well as to hold for too long, except we are just being lucky of holding the profitable one that sill always rises each season no matter how.

Anytime soon. I don't intend to have more than 10% profits before selling any of my altcoins. 5-10% profits from each is okay for me, for the ones that will soar.

That's a good point. It might be better to switch up your altcoin strategy to focus on finding alpha. The profit from one token pumping could cover the losses from all the others.

Liquidity in the market flows from large-cap to low-cap. If you observe closely, they have a predictable rotation, where large-cap coins, such as the top 10 coins, control the market and then flow into their ecosystem. On the other hand, category hype is also important to pay attention to, as they are the initial driving force behind the bullish trend for altcoins. Meme coins with hype and a strong community are the best choices to buy and hold for a while. Earning 10% on each purchase and then selling is much better than experiencing losses by holding them for a long time.

There are already so many products on the market, we need to play smarter.

The first half of 2025 was awful for our altcoins but in the last 3 or 4 weeks they have started to finally wake up with my own altcoin portfolio +65% since middle of June.

Most of the altcoins were unable to perform well up to desired expectations, they are that much suitable in their performance such that it could encourage others to invest or make profits from them, in your own case,I think you're lucky to have been profitable with the selections you made and being profitable to an extent in them, despite we have not yet arrived at the alts season.

They have been falling in price in the Alt-BTC pair over the years, and they only managed to rise in the Alt-USD pair thanks to the increase in the price of Bitcoin. If you are literally trying out to make some comparison about into the potential return or multiplier when it comes to potential profitability Then, there's no doubt that altcoins could be giving out those good numbers or returns on which considering out its marketcap then its not something that you would be able to ignore it out and thats why there are those investors who are that very interested when it comes to investing or dealing up with altcoins just because of this kind of possible profitability. The only main issue on here is that on how you would be able to deal and bare up with the volatility? There are just that those times or moments that you've been that optimistic when it comes into the investment that you've been making. Decisions could vary and results could vary too depending into the actions you've been made on. We do know that this market does have that different cycles on which means that you could neither be having that seeing Bitcoin, Altcoin and meme coin season.

Profitability will be basing up on which are the things you've been dealing but most of the time which investors would be that sticking into something that they can rely into or something that at least having the assurance and confidence and thats why they would be choosing up Bitcoin into that rather than on into those altcoins in despite on having that much lesser possible profitability but at least they do have that confidence on investing into it just because of that high and strong community trust and support.

It took more time for Litecoin to leave the zone below $100 until after we had the all time high for bitcoin market, this also shows that there is more to anticipate for in cryptocurrency, as any coin is bound to perform in its own designated time, however, bitcoin performance cannot be compared to that which these same coin can have, while other investors and holders of Litecoin will soon be more into profit the moment the bitcoin market continues to make all time high.

That all sounds easy on paper. 'Earning 10% on every altcoin trade?' In reality, you're more likely to lose tens of percent on every purchase until you run out of money or the will to keep investing.

Just last week, I stumbled upon a forum post by a user who has been publicly sharing his crypto portfolio for 7 straight years. And you know what? He's been at a loss the entire time because he decided to trade his Bitcoin for altcoins back in 2018. Now that's a real-world example.

As for me, the only way I managed to hit a 10% overall profit for the year was thanks to staking rewards. And that's only because the managers at Cryptomus talked me into buying and staking TRX. All my other altcoins are in the red, and I don't buy Bitcoin on principle

I take profit automatically on both sides of an ALT/BTC or ALT/XLM pair, and even on BTC/XLM pair.

Simply having buy offers and sell offers always in place, ranging up and down from the "spread" (the gap between the buy orderbook and the sell orderbook) means the only way price of the ALT can go down notably in terms of the BTC or XLM is by "taking" my offers to buy the ALT and the only way the price of the BTC or XLM can go down notably in terms of the ALT is by "taking" my offers to sell the ALT and vice-versa for only way for it to climb notably.

All buys are simultaneously sells looking at the pair the other way around, and the BTC/XLM pair is actually more active than most or maybe even all of the other pairs I work with, so this also means that the only way BTC can rise notably in price as expressed in XLM is by my offers to sell BTC for XLM (aka to buy XLM using BTC) getting "taken" and the only way for the price of XLM to rise notably as expressed in BTC is by my offers to sell XLM for BTC (aka to buy BTC using XLM) getting "taken".

Thus I automatically take profit in either direction, feeding on volatility and constantly replenishing my buy side from proceeds of sells and my sell side from proceeds of buys.

It does not even necessarily require a lot of constant attention, it just needs my buy side to extend low enough and my sell side to extend high enough that the price "never" climbs or falls off the end of my column of offers.

Not giving it constant attention can sometimes actually result in more profit than if I constantly reacted super-fast to each of my buys or sells happening, since sometimes letting it go several trades in one direction works out better than instantly replenishing the other side each time a trade happens, as it can allow a larger percentage movement of price if it goes all the way back through the other side of the "spread" without me moving that other side closer thus on average more likely to be "hit".

EDIT: really the only way to "lose" with this approach is to think of value in terms of fiat, in which case temporarily the entire pair can seem to be "down" if both sides are down relative to fiat, but given that fiat itself is pretty much designed deliberately to forever go down there are good reasons for thinking such cases are indeed temporary; if one thinks of value in terms of one side or the other of the pair one is working with it seems to work extremely well.

Do you check your altcoins daily? Do you analyze them properly? Are you gambling or investing? If you don't understand what you're doing in the market, anything you do will end in losses. If you don't understand bullish and bearish trends, and if you don't understand the flow of liquidity in a bullish trend, you should always lose on your investments.

If you can understand the market, I think you'll understand how when BTC reaches its ATH and then moves sideways, there will be an influx of liquidity into altcoins, and that has the potential to increase. You should have invested at that time. 10% isn't a difficult figure for altcoins to achieve during bullish moments.

Don't trade/buy every day; you just need to find the right moment and pay attention to the support and resistance levels of altcoins so you can calculate your own risk and reward. A common mistake people make with altcoins is holding on too long and being greedy about price increases.
