Possible urgent help needed.

Some criminals raided my friends place in the last 13 hours now and they get away with two Asic miners, I doubt they even know what it was because they kept asking my friend what it was with gun pointed to him and his family.

I just want to know if there is possible way to track the Asic miners if they ever come online? I don't know if this is possible though since miners use specific IP address for control and to change receiving/payout address they need to plug the miners and edit the address.

Is there anyway to track Asic miners via IP address or any other ways? Since they don't know what it was I bet they will still have to find ways to figure it out, mind you they stolen other goods in the house too, almost all electronics available was stolen.

If police can not be able to know where the thieves went, there is no way you can know the location of the mixers. I guess what they will do is that they will see the miner. Also only what the miner will later do is to generate hash rate from different IP address which can not be used to know if the miner belongs to your friend or not.

I have seen such stories among miners in Russia, and I can say that if criminals are caught quickly by the police, the equipment is found.
The police in my country will definitely not search for equipment by IP address, unless an independent specialist finds it and passes the data on to the police.  Check out your local pawn shops and websites selling used electronics.

They are not easy to track.

Did the real owner copy the serial numbers?

If not you have zero chance of proving the gear is yours.

Also what was the gear?

If a person is willing to point a gun at someone to rob gear it matters a lot as to the quality of the gear.

If the owner knows the serial number, maybe the pool can provide the home IP address of the robber when the unit becomes online again.
Since before they can change the pool and username, they need to run it first and access it via the miner's IP; it would connect first to the pool.

However, having the home IP of the robber won't still guarantee that you can find them, but you can check that IP to see what ISP it use so that you can request from that internet provider who owns that IP.
Once you know who he is with his home address, you can call the police for help.

Do you think the pool would help a guy get his ASICS back? I am not sure if the pool scans the serial number of the ASICS. Even if it does, how would the owner know the name of the pool where his ASICS is currently mining, given there are hundreds of pools? I think the victim has to file a case first, mention the serial number, and send emails to all the pools with the attachment and request them to check if there are any ASICS online with the serial number. Since we don't know if the pool actually scans the serial number, we are unsure if OP could help his friend.

Pools have no idea what the serial number of the miner is.
There's nothing to identify a miner to the pool other than the type of miner it is (which can also be vague)

The IP of the miner will be whatever it got from your local network, so that wont mean anything.
If you provided it with a static internet IP, then it wont work anywhere else than at your place, so they'll just change it.
However, most of the time the IP a miner has is DHCP from your internal home network, so again that wont identify it.

Hope the police can find them, coz you wont find the miner on the internet using any identification info you might have.

The stolen miners are not that old, a Bitmain s21 and a Canaan Avalon miner, the mini home heater with 37TH, I believe the S21 is the more costly one, so far the criminals aren't caught yet but the manhunt for them is on, I hope something will come up because it took a lot of time before this my friend can gather the money to buy these miners, he always ask me first before he go for any.

The serial numbers was never recorded or snapped with camera because he never had any reason to do so, @Everyone thanks for your concern and contribution.
