I have been learning a lot so far since joining the forum and reading the pinned posts in this board and in Meta as well. As I was searching for more guides, I came across this post: I decided to look for such how-to guides and found these (probably outdated) threads: These are just the ones that I have found, but there's probably more of them. It took me some time and a bit of effort to find these. It's not really a problem, but it was a little inconvenient. I think these types of guides are really good and should be easily accessible for everyone (especially for newbies making redundant threads). Having a subforum for guides would be so much better. It can also be easily maintained and updated with new guides. It seems that people have brought up this topic before and even made compilation threads, but they are just being buried among countless others as time passes by. That's why I was wondering why the idea had never progressed?

Imagine if guide subforum really exist, every thread will start with "GUIDE" and it's all mixed whether it's guide about creating wallet, guide to make Bitcointalk account secure, guide to become a campaign manager, a guide to pushup properly etc. After few months, the old important guide will stay at the last page and new guide will come to the first page, the same thing like what you see in this board. Anyway this thread should be moved to Meta.

There are no need for this. If there is one update that should be done in regarding this, is for these key guides that's meaning on the pinned post on that board to be added. Creating a sub group is not changing anything and may influence spamming on that board.
A child board we are actually in need of in this forum is the security board, which no update from Theymos has been given till now.

Anyway this thread should be moved to Meta. I see what you mean. I tried to look more and apparently something like this already exists in one of the local boards. I translated it to English and funny enough, your description is accurate. I was just left wondering since there wasn't any conclusion about the topic and the thread just seemed to have died out. So, thank you very much for the insights. Also, apologies for posting in the wrong board. There are no need for this. If there is one update that should be done in regarding this, is for these key guides that's meaning on the pinned post on that board to be added. Yup, I think having one mega thread pinned on the board containing all the useful links is more than enough. I didn't realize at first, but I definitely agree that having a separate subforum won't really change anything.

It is not necessary guides but a sub forum for topics like I am new I want to learn I want to explore I want to As we can see many topics like this in Beginners & Help board, a new sub board for such topics can be created if sub forums is approved. Proposals for sub forums like for Security and Privacy were not approved so I don't think Guide sub forum will be approved.

I don't think we need to have another board for Guides. Anyone could create guide for anything, even multiple guides for the same thing, and that would only create more mess. It's easier to use search on Ninjastic.space website or forum to find guide you need, or just ask a question.

I don't know I think the act and process of searching for information shows conviction. If it's too easy to access many wouldn't consider it much The pinned section of every board always covers the basic I think this is enough and a subforum isn't really needed.

To be honest i like that idea with some kind of Board where you can find all the Guides for some things! Question is what you would be put in there , only English Guides or also all Local Board ones ? I am open for any ideas in this way , but if new Users and other will be using that is another question.

It can be helpful, but with several guides people will create on the board, there's no way it does the job it intends to do, which is finding what we want without going through many pages. It can be done in a way that by restricts posting access in that section so regular users should only be able to read, while mods or someone who is assigned for the job can post the link to the actual thread where it is created along with it's title so duplicated guides can be avoided so less pages to go through. But I will say it is just better to create a thread and keep the thread updated (we had some in the past but not updated in years) with all the guides in an organized manner, something like what Ratimov used to maintain.

The fact is it's not actually necessary just like a majority of other users and also said. Basically any post that falls under the guide category will 90% of the time fit in the beginners and helpful board which actually makes a whole lot of sense considering it's created in the first place to help user (mustn't be a newbie). It's high time users understood that too many sub boards is also bad for the forum. The more sub boards that aren't necessary the more inactive more boards become.

I posted this thread from a newbie perspective. Take my experience for example. I was using the forum search engine to find a specific topic, but the results were not relevant to what I was looking for. I had to wait 90 seconds before I was able to change the search parameters. It also goes on a timeout when I search for something too long. It wasn't really ideal for me. Thankfully I found talksearch.io in a recent Meta thread. What I'm trying to say is that it would be hard for a newbie to know that there are such useful tools (ninjastic.space, talksearch.io, etc.), unless maybe there is a guide that we can refer to, which will make the experience much easier and better. And I also wouldn't want to spam new threads for every newbie question I have.
I don't know I think the act and process of searching for information shows conviction. If it's too easy to access many wouldn't consider it much. The pinned section of every board always covers the basic. I think this is enough and a subforum isn't really needed.
I think it's a given that one must put a lot of effort and do their own research. What I was trying to aim for is to at least have some ease of access for all of the useful information provided by the experienced forum members. My initial thought was that it would be easier for example if you can filter the search results to be only in the guide board rather than the whole forum. I now agree though that having a subforum is too much, since just having a pinned "Guides" thread does the job as well anyway.
But I will say it is just better to create a thread and keep the thread updated (we had some in the past but not updated in years) with all the guides in an organized manner, something like what Ratimov used to maintain.
I really liked this thread by notocactus for example. It is filled with a lot of informative stuff and it looks very organized.
The fact is it's not actually necessary just like a majority of other users and also said. It's high time users understood that too many sub boards is also bad for the forum. The more sub boards that aren't necessary the more inactive more boards become.
I do agree after reading the previous replies. The guides shouldn't be specifically for newbies, but for every user instead.

It not be only can be helpful , it would be helpful if new Users know how and where to Look. Mostly the new Users have no time and want there questions answerd quick , if they dont get an answer in 24 Hours they dont care anymore. Its not an thankful job when you made some guides or helping others if they only here for one question or problem they have. It can be done in a way that by restricts posting access in that section so regular users should only be able to read, while mods or someone who is assigned for the job can post the link to the actual thread where it is created along with it's title so duplicated guides can be avoided so less pages to go through.
If you restrict new Users to mutch , honestly Users will be afraid and rejected about it. For sure it would be helping against Scam Account or Users that are try to Scam others , but thats why the Community here to warn others

We have pinned posts like you’ve noted in the OP, if having to go through them diligently have lead you to other places where you did find the guides you now present before us, then it’s okay to say we have a system that works.
The pinned posts not only opens you up to the rules but also, some of the relevances as it concerns the board and forum. Let’s say we have a subforum, I don’t see a lot of newbies finding their ways there when they know the difference. If they don’t care much about the pinned posts, same attitude would be replicated on a subforum if any.

I think it's unnecessary. Guides can be about anything, and they can fit in any board based on the subject of the guide. For example, if someone creates a guide about mining, it will go to its specific board, and that's how it should be. It is just that important; useful and updated guides should be pinned in every section for visitors to read. We have this mostly, except that some of the pinned guides are outdated.
For general guides about anything, one should try and find if they exist, and if they can't find them even after searching or looking through a few pages of the board they are looking at, they can always go ahead and create a new guide with updated information themselves, and no one will say anything even if a similar guide already exists but has been inactive for a long time.

There are many pinned/ sticky threads in different board pages but there is a collective thread with all sticky threads. Forum users need to spend time for reading stick threads on forum rules and basic guides before perhaps reading other sticky threads for different child boards. Just as you've said, old ones will get buried upon the creation of new guides. Guidelines of doing things will continue to come, to a point it becomes which is most relevant? As the forum is sub-divided into different sections, all those needed guides should be made available there. For instance, the guides for trading should be provided or made available in the Trading Discussion Section, how to rank up/grow account should be made available in the Beginners Section.
