1. What are a few good Crypto exchanges?
If you want decentralized one: bisq.network or robosats.org Read more for some other ones here: https://kycnot.me/service/robosatsFor centralized and requiring KYC, it depends on your country. Binance, Bybit, Bitget are common ones. Coinbase for people living in United States. 2. what are some good Hardware wallets?
I can recommend Foundation Passport. Trezor is not also bad. That are both open source wallets. 3. I assume that when i send crypto to my hardware wallet, i use the wallet address ? so any wallet i choose this can be accomplished?
You mean any address generated from the same seed phrase on the wallet can be used? Yes. It is even advisable not to reuse address. 4. from what I understand that when I use a hardware wallet , the crypto I purchase is actually not on the wallet but stored on the block chain? if so, could the block chain be hacked? has it before?
I do not know for altcoins, but for bitcoin it is not possible. Although, it is possible theoretically but not possible with the hash rates bitcoin miners are generating and with how a single mining pool does not have up to 51% hash rates. Even miners know that the bitcoin mining will be profitable for them than to attack the blockchain where they are earning money. 5. what is the most secure way to store crypto?
Cold wallets (also called offline wallets). Example are wallet on an airgapped device like this one and airgapped hardware wallet like Foundation Passport.

This could be brought to the more general Beginners & Help board, as the question concerns hardware wallets and wallets. I don't think it's the right place to discuss Bitcoin here. There are many cryptocurrencies. There are tokens and coins. Besides Bitcoin, these are all what you're referring to. And at the very least, you can read the posts already made by several people here.

Cold wallets, and hardware wallets are cold ones.
Ledger Nano wallets which are completely close source has made some people think hardware wallet should not fall under cold storage anymore because of how people using the hardware wallet can send their seed phrases to third party companies for backup. I also do not trust hardware wallet unless it is airgapped. Airgapped hardware wallets I can call cold storages. Another cold storage is a paper wallet generated on an airgapped device is the third one. All are airgapped.

Not just that, they have the recover feature, which made it even uglier. Newbies of the market might just go with that feature, allowing Ledger itself to recover it for the customer who has lost their secret recovery phrases, which shouldn't be known to them. But because they're closed source, they have this feature and newbies who owns a ledger or opting for it, please don't pay for a subscription and don't use it. Better to opt for other hardware wallets.

I would like to add from Charles-Tim, If you want decentralized one: bisq.network or robosats.org if the OP wants to use robosats.org, I remind you that this site is only for BTC via Lightning Network, not for altcoins, whoever wants to use altcoins too, but overall I agree with the recommendation

1. What are a few good Crypto exchanges?
Decentralized and P2P exchanges. 2. what are some good Hardware wallets?
Hardware wallets with open source code, airgapped devices, and something you can build yourself. Trezor is OG hardware wallet but there are other solid alternatives that are open source. 5. what is the most secure way to store crypto?
Using encrypted passphrase is the best simple option, maybe using something like Satochip, and for more complicated option there is multisig setup.

1. What are a few good Crypto exchanges? 2. what are some good Hardware wallets? 3. what is the most secure way to store crypto?
1. Decentralized exchanges where you can keep the most of your privacy. Number two if you have to use a centralized exchange, choose from the most trusted by community. Use bitcointalk for this mission. 2. Community agreed on Ledger. DYOR there are many others in the market. 3. Hardware wallets. Like any other product, you have to look for the best one for your needs. Think about securing own funds, i will chose the most secure validated by community.

~ so is bitcoin stored on my actual wallet ?
No, Bitcoin isnt stored in your wallet. Your wallet only holds the private keys that let you access and control your Bitcoin. A simple example: you can have two or more wallets (or devices) that have access to the same Bitcoins. Read up on the basics. You need to understand what blockchain is and what UTXOs (unspent transaction outputs) are.

It is still the same thing. The third party companies where the seed phrase are sent to are for the backups and which is very bad. The wallet is not a cold wallet at all. Totally bad, I hope Op and the other people here will avoid that because it seems that it's a real problem done by the Ledger and the security isn't really on them, but concerning the user, there's the company that knows your holdings and has an idea and a way to recover it by themselves. They are mindful about reminding everyone that if it's not your keys, it's not your coins. But for them, your coins are with them and they know it. Integrity is important and we know that problems occurs with these people behind it when they start seeing these encrypted phrases as they say but it still shows security risks.

1. What are a few good Crypto exchanges?
Just as someone earlier stated that tier 1 exchanges are the best crypto exchanges to be used, however checking it's jurisdictions restriction is also very important, because some exchanges has a list of countries where they restrict certain regions. While secondly, exchange are not where you keep huge sums of money, since you literally don't have control over your money, and it could be frozen at anytime if they feel you have violated it's policies. However, here are a list of some reputable crypto exchange, such as Binance, Coinbase, Bybit Bitget Kucoin and Gate.io. 5. what is the most secure way to store crypto?
Storing the coins in a non custodial wallet where you owns the private key of your fund is the most secure way to storing your crypto. Including storing your seed phrase in a secure water, air and fire proved material where it

hasn't coinbase been hacked several times? once was this year? So don't use it for storage, only for exchanging so is bitcoin stored on my actual wallet ?
If bitcoin is a file, the blockchain is a disk, the wallet address (representing the private key) is a directory, and the wallet is a file manager. Just imagine where your bitcoins are actually stored. If you can't understand this simple analogy, you might feel like you've lost all your files if your WinExplorer suddenly crashed.

hasn't coinbase been hacked several times? once was this year?
Where did you hear Coinbase had been hacked multiple times? I've never heard of a serious problem with Coinbase that completely drained the Coinbase wallet. Some users are being hacked, but the majority are victims of phishing attacks. I was looking at Trezor with some others so is bitcoin stored on my actual wallet ?
thanks for the info will check it out
If you receive a BTC in your wallet(non-custodial) then it is store in your wallet not om the blockchain . The similar function for blockchain is database where all transactions are recorded publicly unless you talking about the blockchain wallet?

Where did you hear Coinbase had been hacked multiple times? I've never heard of a serious problem with Coinbase that completely drained the Coinbase wallet. Some users are being hacked, but the majority are victims of phishing attacks.
Possibly this is what he is referring to. Coinbase users are strangely having phishing attack more than other exchange ma users. I think Coinbase customers data were hacked and seen and known by hackers is the reason. If you receive a BTC in your wallet(non-custodial) then it is store in your wallet not om the blockchain . The similar function for blockchain is database where all transactions are recorded publicly unless you talking about the blockchain wallet?
The coins are not stored on the wallet, it is stored on blockchain. Noncustodial wallets have the keys and addresses stored but the coins are stored on the blockchain with the help of the private key and which it can only also be used to spend the coins but the coins is actually on the public ledger which is blockchain.
