It seems silly to me that one country out of hundreds will cause this much scare to the market. If Twitter can still go strong, then certainly bitcoin can still go strong.

Same goes for China, too? I heard many of the social networks are banned in China, Facebook & Twitter etc. They have even banned Google Maps if I'm not mistaken. It does not mean these services have had any impact on popularity in rest of the world. I mean, let them ban BTC, who gives a fuck? Cheesy It's THEIR loss, not OURS.

Most people aren't going think twice about bypassing a ban on a free service that's a bit of fun.

When it comes to their cold, hard cash they're going to be countless orders of magnitude more conservative. Anyway, there's no ban on BTC in China but if the exchanges do die it'll become a lot less liquid and convenient.

Twitter doesn't require buying into something that could lose you all your money.  Not even a realistic comparison.

I think bitcoin will thrive in places where someone is trying to ban it. It's like free advertising.

That's a good point. Pot thrives worldwide, so govt regulations might never succeed in killing btc.

They used Twitter despite the "ban", because techs are good at that kind of thing.

The reason their PM tried to curb Twitter's use in Turkey is because it helped expose a false flag attack they were planning against Syria.

Egypt's old government tried this once too, which just rallied the opposition more.

That said, Twitter and Bitcoin have exactly nothing to do with each other aside some pumpers and speculators who make their announcements. It just just a micro blogging platform. However, the blockchain driven version called Twister would definitely change the game.
