nice to see 200th making a hit.

200th should do about 0.0001 btc a day

and it did 3.125 btc

so about 31250 times what it would normally do in a day.

Don't see knots as a needed option. Query: Why would you think the pool should change to it?
From his past and present interactions with them, Luke Jr has ticked off many of the OG devs. Also doesn't help that his bgminer is a ripoff of cgminer...

I would love to understand the bases of the question, I have not been following much lately, did core break or something?  Cheesy

Why would anyone run Knots for that matter?

Core is relaxing the OP_RETURN size limits that have been there for a long time because using it for spam makes no sense since it cost 4x more than using taproot for the spam, and relaxing the limit makes other transaction types possible. People are obsessed that relaxing the limit is encouraging spam and shifting to knots because it allegedly filters spam, although filtering at the node level 100% does not work if the pools will still mine it. Moving to knots ultimately amounts to no more than virtue signalling and filtering of valid transactions in addition, thereby constituting censorship in what is meant to be a censorship resistant network, and slows down block propagation across knots nodes on the network. People have been duped into following a pointless cult, using software maintained effectively by just one person with an agenda, which is 99.9% core code with many rejected patches on top, thinking that the core devs have been compromised, which is a hilarious allegation since there are over 100 devs from all over the world so it's actually a distributed development process very much in the spirit of bitcoin itself. In 6 months, long after core v30 comes out, and nothing bad has happened on the network, people will still gloat they did the right thing, but bitcoin will just keep on doing what it's always done.

We run the party every 2 weeks and post a party recap to Nostr - how much hashrate, best difficulty reached, number of party miners etc.

I'll see about getting a running history up on the site, that's a good idea.

We don't yet have a history of successfully mined blocks. I get that it's a leap of trust. That's why I made the minimum buy in 1 TH/s for 15 sats.
That's a low bar for entry!

And over time, as more people join, the odds get better and we'll soon have a history of mined blocks with payouts.

Evan, thanks for your feedback!

I think what @philipma1957 said is somewhat true. Being new or little-known can make it harder to gain the trust to attract more participants or participants with higher hashrate.

I don't know if there is another way to create parties that generates more trust and helps to popularize them. Would it be feasible to return a small percentage of the amount paid by participants at the end of the party? This might boost trust. Of course, it doesn't mean that when the bloco wins, it will do this, but it might convey greater credibility, I don't know. What do you think @philipma1957?

But, really, the statistics from the sites - even if no party has won a bloco so far - would be very interesting and useful.

Have you ever considered opening a thread here on the forum about the parties? It could be really interesting and create engagement with the BitcoinTalk community.

Brief update -

- Annoucement post for Upendo: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5558911.0
- Log of our past block parties: https://upendo.rigly.io/pages/log

We're still looking for how to increase trust in our block party.

We did talk with Willi and (after convincing my co-founders) I'm hopeful that we run a future party w/ him as the escrow address w/ CK Pool.

Our current block party will raise sats for several bitcoin education projects, which will hopefully also increase trust that we're real.

Party starts tomorrow, still time to join in - https://upendo.xyz

Best,
  Evan

Oh! That, okay, we discussed that intensively back in May, and here is my take on the entire subject, as someone who is 100% neutral and view every change on core as a change that effects my personal "small" wealth, I believe that the proposal is for the best. I had a little criticism regarding the initial PR:

Quote
In general, I think the proposal is reasonable -- maybe except for removing -datacarrier and -datacarriersize. Those give node operators the basic freedom to decide what kind of junk they're willing to relay. If someone wants to filter nonsense from their node, why take that option away?

The new modified PR fixed that; there is absolutely not a single logical reason to use Knots over Core.
