Hi there

I am new in cryptocurrency only knowing that there is an algorithm that is an open source and there are so many crptocurrencies now and they may be the future.

I want to learn how it all works i have asked another question re what to study?

But i wanted to follow one crytocurrency maybe feathercoin? buy them, read about them etc etc to know how it all works, at the moment i have no knowledge of it, In your opinion whom should i follow? Any particular currency where there are few guides published etec etc and is easier to do (not Bitcoin and Litecoin).

Whom to follow?

Thanks

I suggest to follow something from BitCoin 2.0 like MasterCoin, NXT, Ethereum or BitShares:

If you're so inclined: http://www.noblemovement.com/downloads/TheStateofAlternativeCryptocurrency-D1.pdf. A personal perspective and decent introduction to the scene that some consider a good read once you've got the basics like mining, trading and exchanges covered.

Vertcoin (VTC). ASIC resistant, has a strong dev team. Supports merged mining with Monocle and Parallax coin. So, 3 in the 1!

myriadcoin is minable at the same time with 5 different algorithms. This helps make it 51& attack proof. Theoretically could be even more secure than bitcoin when it comes to 51% attacks. It also has an active development. Worth taking a look.

Don't buy any alt coins until you have really understood them.  Lots of people will tell you to buy because they got the coins for almost nothing and want to sell to get free money, your money.  Assume everyone here is trying to rip you off because most probably are.  Bitcoin is the only real coin right now.  Some altcoins might change that but nobody really knows.  Every month an alt coin is being "pumped" to be really high in price.  If a person rides it up, they can make a lot of money.  But then instantly the price will bottom out.  Then it is a ponzi and the last people that put money in are called "bag holders".  It is the goal of many people to get you to be a bag holder.

I think this is an interesting time:

Many projects are open source, competing for the attention of developers, but also the coins compete for markets.
New ideas are being developed, implemented, tried, improved upon. Opinions are being voiced. It is truly a development bazaar.

However,
Regulators have not caught up yet to the technology.
Once they will, it will stifle development, and possibly reduce smoke and mirrors.

I second this. And be very careful around these boards.

Also, whatever you do, stay away from the 'securities' boards.

Welcome in our 'world'. I'm sure you will like cryptos like almost everyone of us. Smiley

It is just a suggestion - but if you follow NEM, you won't regret it.

Take some BTC and invest in NEM, if you're looking for one special coin to follow.

Just do a quick search about NEM in Btt and you'll see the interest of the whole btt-community.

I'm pretty sure you can ask every question in their NEM-discussion-thread.

Sounds like you would be a perfect candidate for: The Fundamentals of Cryptocurrency 1001 at the Cryptocurrency University (CCU), except it has not launched as of yet:
