Bitcoin Alternate Uses - A list of applications using the Bitcoin protocol

I think BTC's first-use case was as a payments gateway.

But what other applications can the protocol solve? (including non-financial)

Feel free to add to the list. There are many Bitcoin entrepreneurs and technical experts using this forum, let's network and make happen  


1. Contract exchange system.

2. Dispute Mediation/Resolution system.

3. Heating and Energy?

4. Agricultural management?

5. Voting system (Global consensus)

6. Global Remittance

I think Bitcoin can help with the number one thing on list you linked to, poverty.

The 3rd world receives a lot of remittances. So if the cost of transferring money is reduced, the poorest people would receive more help. Plus in makes it easier for very low income people to run a business because now they can have access to some sort of "banking." It also lowers costs for charitable organizations.

Nice one mate, good point about the remittance market       - Ways to use the bitcoin protocol to reduce poverty is high up on the list, I agree. Can the bitcoin protocol be used to promote sustainable food/water resources?

I don't know how that might work, but there are probably people that do.

And while I don't think Bitcoin will stop or slow down nuclear proliferation it could make it a little safer. Having multi-sig crypto on all nuclear launches would at least keep the people who are supposed to be in charge in charge.
