Well normally you will be required to sign a message when selling an account.
Anyway, signing a message depends on what wallet you're using.
Just search for "wallet_name sign message"
Example if you're using the classic bitcoin core:

You can verify signed messages too if you have blockchain.info wallet otherwise brainwallet.org is the best way IMO
