Curecoin Tips Appreciated Smiley BMLvHtctASnYAmURkmQbD396Dn3342s3oM

*Note: This guide is for folding only, not mining*

Hello Everyone,
Due to the large volume of people having trouble with this I decided to make a single thread with instructions on how to maximize your points per day. This article is a combination of my personal knowledge along with the knowledge of numerous others. If you are having a problem not discussed in this article, feel free to leave a reply and I'll do my best to help you.

To start, if you don't know what curecoins are, check out this thread to learn more: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=603757.0
If you already know what they are but haven't setup mining here is a great guide to setting it up: https://www.cryptobullionpools.com/about
If you have curecoins and want to trade them, check this exchange out: https://c-cex.com/?p=cure-btc or look at our trading thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=605734.msg6685341#msg6685341

Important Notes
AMD GPU folding on Linux is not possible (use a Windows based OS)
GPU folding on a Mac is not possible

Suggestions
Suggestion 1
To start, I'm going to assume that you already have a passkey and are hooked up to the pool. Remember you need the same username and caps does matter! The first problem most people encounter and my original problem is make sure that your GPU is set as your primary GPU. I accomplished this by plugging my monitor into my GPU - you should be able to edit this in the bios somewhere I believe or if that's not working use dummy plugs / plug in monitors to all your GPUs (monitors don't need to be running).

Suggestion 2
The second most common problem is bottlenecking your CPU. Many people are switching over from scrypt mining where a single core CPU could support a 4 GPU rig. That is not the case for folding at home. A good rule of thumb generally is 1 core of CPU for each GPU plus one more idle CPU core for backup therefore if you have a tri GPU rig you'll want a 4 core CPU. For safety if running a rig with more than 2 GPU I would recommend turning off the CPU folding because it generates such a low PPD compared to optimized GPUs anyway. A simple way to test for bottlenecking is turn of your CPU folding slot and go to task manager - if your CPU usage is hitting 100% then you are bottlenecking.

Suggestion 3
The next suggestion is passkey. A large number of bonus points are rewarded if you have a passkey but you need to have folded at least 10 work units to get bonus points with a passkey. You can use the folding@home chrome extension to complete short fast work units so that your passkey starts working.

Suggestion 4
Suggestion 4 is related to downloading and quick return bonuses or QRBs. The faster you complete and return a work unit the more points you'll get. This has to do with downloading work units early. As soon as you download a work unit the clock starts ticking. Likewise if you pause folding the clock continues ticking - keep this in mind! The quick return bonus is also tied to your passkey - you need a passkey to get QRBs.

Suggestion 5
Make sure you are using the beta flag to get Core 0x17 work units worth noticeably more points. How to do this is contained in vorksholk's guide here: https://www.cryptobullionpools.com/about You can get it by adding this at the end of the client's properties window on your desktop:  --client-type=advanced

Suggestion 6
Latest Drivers. I would recommend running the latest drivers while mining. For both Nvidia and AMD. However, this mainly applies if you have latest generation or second latest generation cards. If your cards are from earlier I would recommend googling the best drivers it may still be the latest ones but it is more subjective.

That's all for now - I'll probably change more later and feel free to post replies.

Another piece of advice, if you're running risers expect to take a huge loss on your PPD. My 750 Ti's are only achieving ~15k PPD on 1x to 16x risers each. :/

Have you completed 10 work units? If you haven't 15k isn't that bad for a 750 ti.

Great guide thanks! Below my scores

GPU's:

My old Nvidia 680GTX @ 44kPPD (think this should do much better? I have not bothered to try with the latest driver and not overclocked)
My AMD 290X cards @ 203kPPD per card (not overclocked)

CPU's:

i7-4770K 3.5 GHZ Haswell 17kPPD (not overclocked)

Your CPU is pretty good I have an i5-4670 at 6-7k. I generally don't worry about CPUs because their PPD is not too good.

Your AMD card is doing great!

Your GPU should be at ~90k try the latest driver and also make sure the CPU is not bottlenecking from feeding it. Try this article: http://www.overclock.net/t/1424769/folding-question-for-nvidia-gtx680-folders

Yeah with the passkey I was using, I had already completed hundreds of units for that, so I was eligible for QRB, I don't think 750 Ti's are very optimized for F@H yet though.

They are not designed for the beta units yet - so hopefully they'll fix that soon.

Glad you have a working passkey.
