Dont know much about this crypto, but am amazed how its marketcap got as high as it did.
From what i gather its too centralised and run by a corporation, i guess thats not so good an idea?

Ripple is mainly targeting banks and large money transfer networks not some guys from BTT like us. From this point of view beeing centralized and run by a corporation is a very good idea. Banks and money transfer corporations much more fond of doing business with an other company then with a bunch of random blokes with some mining harware across the world Smiley.

I've no idea how the idea of XRP as an investment took hold. If Ripple functions well then I was under the impression XRP was purely to be the grease that allowed the transactions to flow.

Disclaimer - I still can't wrap my head around any aspect of how Ripple actually works.

Yes, I have the same feeling about Ripple.
At the very beginning it was such a surprise to see Ripple listed as top 2 but now it is still falling and falling.

Ripple is a fucking scam coin, i don't understand how people are so gullible just by some 20% rise on some days.
They hold 40% of the coins and this is not even a cryptocurrency... why we are even talking about this one on bitcointalk forum ? I though this forum section should be only about Alt cryptocurrencys. I think the mods need to send Ripple topics to the Off-Topic section because this is where Ripple belongs.

I hope the greedy bagholders have learned something now.

+1000 !

I fully support that what you're saying. This is what I think about Ripple for a long time.
40 % is just sick!

It was the co-founder. http://altcoinpress.com/2014/05/ripple-founder-decides-to-uncork-holdings/

And more bad news announced yesterday: http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/ripple-board-member-jesse-powell-resigns-wake-founder-sell/2014/05/24

I was never a fan, but they did say that the native currency XRP was just meant to be like a "postage stamp". People speculated on it anyway, even though there were some truly massive whales (the company behind Ripple, Jed, etc.). Now the speculators are paying the price.

I was amazed ripple ever took off.  I didn't think it was a scam like so many did but I could never see why anyone needed more than like 1000 of them to act as "stamps" for any transactions they wanted to make using the ripple network.

Given the greed and insane behavior many bitcointalk users engaged in to get XRP via the giveaway that was run here, in some ways I can't say I'm that sorry to see it tank.
