I have recently advertised a mountain bike on the site Gumtree here in Australia, I have included in this ad an offer to sell my bike for half price if paid for in bitcoins. So far I've had a few calls but nobody seems to knows what bitcoins are and how to get them so they can purchase my bike cheap, this is a big problem with bitcoins that still needs to be addressed. I have tried to explain to them how easy they could do it but most just think I'm trying to scam them or its all just to much trouble.
Getting the bitcoin into mainstream with easy to use one off systems is just one idea I have thought of.
What are your thoughts about this?

Most people will never bother signing up at an online exchange, much less upload passport or transfer funds, to buy bitcoins.

Bitcoin ATMs will make a big difference. Cash in, BTC out.

Other ways Bitcoin can go mainstream?

You are right, ATM its just to hard for the average person to get there hands on some bitcoins. I read a story not long ago that said we're getting 100 bitcoin atm 's here in Australia although I can't remember the roll out date for these, I do remember that u need to put your palm print in to use it and that may put some people off, let's hope not we need these ATM's asap

ATMs are very important, as they are very easy to use and do not need any verification.

Signing up to an exchange requires quite a bit effort, verification can take days/week if done correctly.

Hope we will see a 1000% increasy of ATM's in the wild, this will make it much easier for people to adopt Bitcoin.

Find it hard to believe regs will let ATMs operate without at a minimum biometric Id capture
Let's face it, mass adoption will mean sacrificing anonymity in some form

I believe the ones OP is referring to will not use such pervasive methods but rather something like a drivers licence, which in my opinion is still too much.

1/2 price if paying by bitcoin may make people think that you are trying to scam them as this is a very big discount. Either that or your price may be too high to start with (or they may think as much).

IMO the best way to get the general public interested in bitcoin is BTC ATMs and merchants that accept bitcoin. When someone sees a store that accepts a payment method that they are not familiar with they will likely will research those payment methods.
