I have this motherboard, it has 2 PCIe x16 slots and 3 PCIe x1 slots. currently i have 2 cards in the x16 slots and 1 in one of the x1 slots via extenders, all can be seen in the OS.

if i plug one via extenders into another of the x1 slot it wont show up, i.e. 3 not 4. any idea why this would be? can you only use a certain number of slots at the same time? any help would be appreciated

There are some Gigabyte boards that will kill a X16 slot if both x1 slots are used.  This is the case on an AMD board (sorry, don't have the model number with me).  I use the 2 x1 slots but lose a x16 (gives me 3 cards total -- despite having 2 each of x16 and x1).
