Proud bitcoin use'n, 'bacca smokin', greens eatin', wife beatin' Hillbilly right here. The problem is people are brainwashed starting in elementary school when self exploration should start. It happens in every public and private school in America. Be a patriot, but do so with the knowledge of what your government is doing. Respect the land you stand upon enough to do the right thing. Not all us Hillbillies are stupid. Religion has a stranglehold on politics in the Southern states and much of the Midwest. Between religion, education, and politics; we have ourselves an uphill battle for sure. Random rant over.

I know if things go down the gun toting people around here will be able to sell me food for my bit coin too.

I'm mainly talking about the good Christian fellow that walks up to you with one girl and wants to introduce his wife and sister. A good proud American that will kill anyone that his govt tells him to for GOD and country. You're absolutely right about the triple header (religion, education, and politics) controlling Merica. In GOD we trust, right?

It is an unfortunate stereotype but one that is not likely to change any time soon.

Christianity in general is narrow minded and close minded. You can't be something that the area doesn't want you to be. If you're from Anniston you need to be a God fearin Christian boy that marries his high school sweetheart, buys a double wide, has a bunch of babies, drink beer like it's water, been arrested at least once for drag racing on the street and loves his country without question. You can't be gay, an anti war protester, military deserter, non-Christian heathen or anything else your community doesn't like. Oh, and you have to love the crimson tide. lol

Nation! I feel a little poweless today, and my ego hurts. What say you, should we flatten Iraq, or should we devastate Afghanistan? That would be 2 mBTC for the one country, and 3 mBTC for the other. What about both? (reporter notice: Assuming bitcoin is fully implemented, and houses have fallen to their use value, that is about half a house for each war). We will hire some guys to do the work for a reasonable compensation (not including compensation for the risk of not returning from the war alive). And we can not promise free health care to treat an eventual post traumatic stress syndrome, nor can we promise any pension. Sorry about that, it is not in the calculation, there is not money for that. So what say you?

I've lived in California for a long time and it's too far in the opposite direction. I'd like to blend the two states and make a neutral one. Of all the states I've lived in Alabama was the scariest. When I was in school there I watched a boy get beaten up badly because he was gay (at least the other boys said he was). I wanted to stop it but was afraid they would call me gay. I still remember how bad I felt for doing nothing while they beat him. That's why Bitcoin isn't enough to stop wars. It's not the money it's the belief that violence solves problems that needs to change. If everyone in the country used Bitcoin and there is still a majority of violence loving idiots then wars will still be funded.

I don't think we will ever get rid of war altogether but even to limit it to small regional conflicts would be a great thing. We all have regrets about not standing up for people that are bullied. Courage is a lot harder to find when you are young. West Texas might be what you are looking for as far a middle ground. I grew up in El Paso and it was kind of an odd mix of west and southeast.

Catchy slogan. It's good, since no other currency can currently say it. But of course, if Bitcoin is mass adopted, war and violence will start to occur. Nice slogan, though.
How? War is incredibly expensive. If governments cannot inflate currency to fund wars their ability to launch them is limited. Thre is no way to finance a major war in a bit coin universe. Countries use debt to finance wars. This is not the same as inflating their currency (using lower then market interest rates, QE, and the like). There is little to no reason why a country couldn't issue debt denominated in bitcoin, much like other countries issue debt issued in US dollars.
