setting up 12 s1 antminers

I am expanding my "farm" from 3 ants to 12. What would the best way to power these units? Not asking about PSU's but distribution. Which option would be best?

1) 120vac 20amp circuits, 2 1000 watt psu's per circuit. I would need 6 20amp circuits

2) 240v 30amp circuit with PDU, I could run 11-12 miners on one circuit

any other ideas? Also, is there any difference between a power strip and a basic PDU?

2 x 220v 30 amp circuits with 2 x 220v 24 amp PDU's would be my initial design for that sort of setup.

Thats what i was thinking except to go that route i am looking at least $200 more in supplies. I am curious if I will make that back with the little gain in efficiency?

How far from your panel are you going to put your miners?  How many slots do you have in your panel?

I would make a little spreadsheet comparing 6 x 120v20a, 3 x 240v20a and 2x240v30a.

The 6 x 120v20a circuits would require 6 runs of 12awg wire, 6 single pole breakers or 3 of the 2 in 1s, 6 duplex boxes and 6 duplex outlets.  No power strips needed.
The 3 x 240v20a circuits would require 3 runs of 12awg wire, 3 double pole breakers, 3 duplex boxes, 3 outlets and 3 16A PDUs
The 2 x 240v30a circuits would require 2 runs of 10awg wire, 2 double pole breakers, 2 duplex boxes, 2 outlets and 2 24A PDUs

Of course, a more important question is how long you plan on keeping this up and do you ever expect your power consumption to go DOWN.  History shows it rarely does

Depends on how much space you have left in the panel, and whether you are doing the work yourself.

If you are wiring yourself, then I suggest 240v 20a using 12 AWG copper wiring.  Easier to deal with than 10 AWG.  Provided you have enough breaker spaces in the panel.  Make sure you distribute the breakers between the left bank (side) and right bank (side) of the panel.  Helps with loading.

If hiring electrician, then I would go 240v 30a route with 10 AWG copper wiring.  Time is money.  Less wires to run usually means less install time, and therefore cost less.

In all cases, I would place the heavy electrical loads near the top of the panel where the main feeder cable comes into the panel.

One other thought comes to mind ... how far are the miners from your service panel?

It might be less expensive to install a sub panel where you are installing your miners than run multiple small circuits if the distance is long.

Thanks for the replys. Here is what i am doing. I am putting in a 100amp sub panel and from that will run 240v 20amp breakers and 1 120v 20 amp for my switch, router and fans. My main panel is about 2 feet from the sub and the sub is 1 foot from my miners. I got a triplite 100-240v 20amp pdu along with all the needed c13 adapters. 100 amps should give me more than enough room for now as i will only be using about 25 amps.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't you only need 3 20amp 120v to run 12 Ants. I run 4 on each 20amp run with 12 gauge 1650 watts per circuit.

You can should only run 16amps per 20 amp circuit so yes, 4 per would work. My issue is i plan on expanding much more past 12 ants. This way i have enough room to expand.
