So I'm really new but I'm looking at let's say antminer S3 okay and then let's say a teraminer like an S2 (OR ANY TERAMINER)
Would or should I save my money for a teraminer ($1300-$1800)
So no here is the thing. S3 is about half a bitcoins and your required to buy in pairs so 1bitcoin for 2(I'm rounding down) so at this day about $500-$540 for 2 S3
so
456*2=912gh for 2s3
1tera=1000gh

It seems cheaper to buy the 2s3 (maybe more ) as to the teraminer right?

Or is my math wrong?

S3 uses new chips compared to the S2 (both from the same company Bitmain).

S2 was geared more for data centers and the S3 was more for home users.

The newer version of the S2 which was expected to be called the S4 should be coming out soon using the same chips on the S3.

most teraminers do not need aditional psu's like ants do, that is additional price, but seems like ants is best bang for the buck.

They are totally different companies and they set their prices themselves and maybe they manufacturing costs them more or they only want more profit, who knows.

What about buying 10 ASICMiner Tube? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735728.0
You can get 8-8.5 TH/s for 7.9 btc, and the power consumption is about 0.9 J per GH/s.

Because thats how they do it, just like CPUs with higher processing power, you pay a lot more for a little bit extra.

One thing is shipping.  I know on the 1.5 Dragon it is a beast on shipping.

With S3 it has no psu's and lighter can ship much cheaper.

Ants has also very J per GH/s ratio, if you are paying something for electricity, it is worth to consider it. And even if you do not, they will run cooler, than other units with worse j/GH/s ratio.

New Ants are better than Terras in general, but it depends how you get them.

Demand is high, production cost is higher as difficulty rises.

Mining Fund is very expensive in because the price of mining equipment is very expensive, it impacts on the high price of a miner, an example can be seen in such cloudmining PBmining.com or CEX.IO, before investing in cloudmining, which must first be understood is cloudming investment is an investment that has a high risk, could succeed or could also fail, though successful, can be managed with little benefit.
The couple of things that caused the miner very expensive, hopefully You can invest in a safe and profitable ...  Tongue

IMO, the mining difficulty only affects how much bitcoin you can get from the miner, but not the production cost of the miner.

Because you are not a mining whale that will buy thousand of them.

For big buyers, the prices are way cheaper, for the small ones, they charge expensive because people still buy them expensive.

One of the biggest costs is the ASIC chips them-self.  With being a smaller miner you will need to do a little research and pick best for your money.

Some of this decision is really based on your electricity.  If the efficient will make a difference.
