Instead of attempting to solder the board, I went out and bought an adapter/extension, which you see is the black cord in the picture. This allows the fans to plug into any 3 pin fan connector on your motherboard. They spin just fine and cool the card just as well. You can control the fan speed through your motherboard bios. However running them at 100% all the time is a lot quieter than you think (these arctic accelero fans are great). Running scrypt you can get 500 kh/s per core or 1 mh/s overall for the card.
