well ill give you a bit of info im looking for a drag strip something like a runway (not the American version for proper drag cars) so me and my sister can settle a bet (i know i should be the bigger person and tell her its stupid blah blah) she likes to get the BF to "tune" up her little cars i use the term loosely because hes just not good at it anyway she just got a new 1.7 diesel corsa and she says its fast, sure its fast but my little old Mondeo 1.8 Zetec is faster and i finally want to prove to her its not a lazy slouch and is fast enough to beat the crud out of her little car Cheesy

so anyone know anywhere or find anywhere? i might even pit it on youtube Tongue

looking for places in Northwest England, UK for those who dont know XD

A diesel corsa is fast? Even I know that's bullshit and I barely care about cars, I don't know about drag strips because it's not a big thing here in the UK but you could find an empty airfield or race track with a long straight bit on it like Top Gear do, in fact I've seen them do it on some tracks in the UK, or hell I don't know you could even ask Top Gear themselves if you could use their airfield Cheesy

Oh and I'm pretty sure you'll have to drive quite a bit to any good race track so just plan for the journey.

I used to run track days and spent a long time looking for airfields. Have a look here

http://www.content-delivery.co.uk/aviation/airfields/regional/EnglandNorth.html

There's a surprising number out there. Lots will have become cratered or farmed on though, and the ones that are usable are often awful funny about liability and usage. They're often restricted to 14 days activity a year and if a driving company is operating on there they get very territorial.

You could do a run what you brung here  http://www.yorkraceway.org.uk/RWYB.html

You could talk to a track day company and do it during one of their days. Talk to a local operating airfield. Or you could just do the sensible thing and get some mates to block the local motorway while you let rip.

Well worst comes to worst I know a farmer that will let us rally across one of his fields but I'm not going to get to a decent speed rally driving, care a bit to much about my car for that. Thanks for the suggestions looks like I'll have a lot of emails to send off
