I saw a video on YT regarding something similar to this but the speaker (whom I think was a Tor dev) mentioned it having it's negative effects. In the video however the reward was increased bandwidth or something like that for providing the faster connection. However, I think there's no need for a TorCoin they should just use BitCoin instead.

This does seem really interesting. Hope someone with more brains can figure out a way to make it work.

I'd support it but I already have 8 exit nodes for the tor relay for free I'd be happy to shove more nodes on it if I got paid or even donations

Wrong, no one on their right mind would use BitCoin if they wanted full anonimity (anyone on Tor wants full anonimity). They just should use Monero, which is already working with i2p.

I proposed this idea over a year ago as part of the sciencecoin initiative. The main problem is, if there was ever a bug or other issue with torcoin, it could leak over into causing a problem overall for Tor.

TorCoin: Making Anonymity PayThis is really cool. Incentivize the operation of TOR nodes by allowing exit nodes to mine Torcoins, which can be sold on the open market. Still seems to be in the conceptual stage, but exciting stuff.

Is there any thread to track Torcoin status?

I see two big problem in it :
- People cheating the system by oversending crap data through themselves.
- The value of TorCoin going so low that there is no incentive to run a node (that could be caused by cheaters dumping).
