Is this worth it for a new miner?

I been looking at getting into mining as a hobby, yes hobby. I do not want to sink a ton of money in it. But I would like to make a couple of bitcents just in case it "goes to the moon" lmfao

I was looking at a couple of products online I kinda like the antminer what do you guys think for a hobby miner?

Is this ad legit its from amazon, is that a good price? I do not trust reviews due to what I have read about BFL

If your goal is to have a few bitcents in case it 'goes to the moon' - you'd be better off buying some.  Check the StickMiners thread in my sig for an overview of these types of miners and some information on ROI (tl;dr: no net positive financial ROI).
For this specific one: the last regular retail price I saw for an Antminer U2 was ~$12, so I'd say "no".

Use the search function to find discussion on which miner(s) to buy if you wanted to mine more seriously; it's not for the faint of heart.

but still remember bitcoin difficult always increase everyday so you must calculate any possible to get your ROI

I myself have a couple of S1's running.  They are highly reliable and relatively easy to setup.  What the fella above mentions is true about being "better off" just purchasing some coins if your trying to make any real money but technically speaking you could earn a couple of cent's off a usb nanofury once your grand children have children and they too get old :p

Kidding aside, without overclocking you'll earn a little over half a bit penny per day at 180GH.  ~0.0065/day, and this next difficulty jump is a big one.

I have been researching this myself and my conclusion is that you are much better off just buying coins outright. Too many variables with mining, and all indications are that it will not end up being profitable (or at least certainly no more profitable than just buying coins outright).

I have one left I can sell it to you for 10 bucks.   It is only worth 10  dollars as a teaching tool.   Or as a so called cheap lottery ticket  as you could run it in a solo mining pool and win 15000 usd in btc.   odds are very low you win, under 1 chance in 40,000 if you mine there for a day with one stick.

The ad from amazon is legit, but it is way too expansive for the speed and you are guaranteed not to ROI.

BFL is to be avoided like the plague that it is.

Do you know you can buy coins instead of mining them?  Coinbase is pretty easy to use.

If you want to just get into mining as a hobby for curiosity then buy a R-Box - probably the best small device and relatively current.  For best use of your money just buy coins directly.
