Help! I have started pulling my hair out. My computer is a Pentium Dual Core CPU E5300 with an Intel G41 Express Chipset incorporated graphics. I can not get Guiminer to work. Am I screwed with these graphics? If so what should I get that will work but won't bankrupt me? Thanks......Sandy

This computer really is not a mining computer on it's stats. Before jumping into GPU's i would do some ROI analysis. I suggest looking at bitcoin asic's. Again all depends on if you want to mine or just buy bitcoin's straight out and amount you want to spend.

It is hard to get profit mining with a high-end standalone GPU, let alone your G41...

Welcome Sandy to the forums. You cannot make a profit currently by mining unless you happen to design you own coin and get a lot of support. Either focus on working to acquire more disposable income and buy your coins on an exchange or offer services to the community in exchange for coins.

As already said, you would be better off just buying bitcoin with your spare money, there's plenty of ways to earn bitcoins (paid sigs/offering services etc). Mining's not really worth it unless you can afford to buy some decent mining rig.

You cannot mine with Intel graphics. You cannot mine Bitcoin with it. Considering that you have an older CPU, CPU mining alt coins is also out of the question.why not try buying some bitcoin?

You can't profitably mine Bitcoin with CPUs or GPUs anymore. You will need an ASIC to mine Bitcoin. You could mine Litecoin or any other scrypt coin like Dogecoin with a GPU but there are ASICs out there now which will soon render GPU mining obsolete - just like the way it did with Bitcoin. Besides, your graphics card is integrated, so there would be no point in GPU mining anyway since it wouldn't be powerful enough. There are a couple of coins out there that are still mineable with GPUs and unlike Litecoin, don't have ASICs built for them yet. Examples include Darkcoin (X11) and Vertcoin (scrypt-N). If you want to mine these, all you need to do is buy a graphics card and install it on your PC. You could also sell the graphics card on eBay anytime you want or use it to play games. You could also try mining CPU coins. Check out the CPU Coin List. If you decide to do this, then it probably wouldn't hurt to upgrade your CPU beforehand since yours is a bit old. After choosing a coin and mining it, you can then trade it for bitcoins on an altcoin exchange such as Cryptsy. Or you could just buy BTC instead and skip mining altogether. In fact, you would end up with a lot more BTC that way.

Sorry man, This is not going to happen with G41 chipset :/ You will not have any results at all. Try mining some cpu coins with your dual core, there will be no results at all with it neither , but you will manage to mine something Look at the alt coin section and choose a coin there. BR Gondel

Even if you have free electricity it is not worth mining with this "rig" (sorry but I hardly say rig to this pc).

I can't tell if this is a troll post... maybe not... but sadly yes that hardware is garbage for really any sort of coin...
if it's a cpu coin worth mining it has a gpu miner... if it's a cpu coin worth mining that doesn't have a gpu miner... you will need a < 3 year old cpu...
if it's a gpu coin... hah if it's a >2 coin... hah and... go asic

wooot why we we want to know that never CPU mine! mine with your GPU, it mines like 5x better Really impossible to make ROI. ASICs were developed for scrypt and SHA256. Most ASIC resistant coin either have better efficiency using CPU or Difficulty is too high to mine any more and they May be a pump and dump coin.

They said scrypt can only be CPU mined, not GPU or ASICs. However, in some time, GPU Scrypt miner was developed and later ASICs. No coin can ever be resistant forever, and not every coin can be a successful coin.

They most probably want the majority of the community to be able to be involved in the mining. Also, most people have GPU being used for Bitcoin mining. They can easily shift those over, those with smaller rigs cannot make much from it.

If you can mine with your CPU you should go for it , you can mine Ducknote or Monero. Use this pool https://minergate.com/ You sign up here , download the client and start mining , easy Im pretty new myself .

I don't think you will be able to make much profit with this configuration. It would be best for you to join a pool.

Everyone can mine for it but the electrical cost may be high you may never make ROI as the exchange rate is quite low.
