I was wondering, where exactly can I learn how to make my own? If I decided to open a coin soon, I would prefer to make my own.

If you wanna make a clone of an other cryptocoin then try: https://github.com/bitcoin-abe/bitcoin-abe.
Else make an RPC api then a PHP script that use the wallet api (or sql db) and get the blocks from it. If you need help pm me.
