I have followed both of the coins for a while and hold some of both. And i agree, while everyone is busy killing each other fud, flame, and what ever means. The "smaller" and more socially inviting currencies are going strong Smiley

Community seems to be growing, now with some gambling sites accepting Doge. Hope it keeps getting strong.

I think you are mistaken if you think the community has disappeared at any time.
And who exactly is going to dump you know you have to have coins to do so. In the last weeks, months only people believing in the coin have bought so you think they going to dump because its up a few satoshis. Of course there will be correction of the price, but thats about it. A fair few people going to amazed. Remember the the highest price so far on 21 January was $ 0.00215 now is only $ 0.000381, so cheap

You say this as if it's a bad thing?!?!

We are headed to a time of only a handful of coins, with strong communities who will use their favorite coin specifically because they like the community.
And they will not lose anything doing so. When Paypal says a buyer can use BTC, LTC, or Doge, the buyer will use the one he prefers.

AppleByte is no where near Doge at this point, but we already have artists who prefer to be tipped in AppleBytes than another coin.
To our community, it is simply more hip to be tipped 1000 ABY instead of .00593736 BTC or in a "meme" coin whose lack of artistic standards offends them.

So it will be to each his own, a handful of niche coins to chose from, while most of the members of this forum chase a different "groundbreaking" algo each week.

I don't know anything about AppleByte but doge fans are finally seeing some pay off.  I think this is due to the higher difficulty due to the merged mining with LTC and the impending block reward reduction.  Doge looks like a survivor, and while I think it has a lot of coins and am concerned about no limit ever, it's community (sorry) has stuck around.

Good Luck!

I think the community of both coins is the key to longterm success.

Although to be fair, Doge is less than a year old & AppleByte is 4 months old, so who can know at this point.

But the real difference is, both of these coins are focused on a real user community, not a community of crypto geeks
And that will make the difference imho.

Doge got some good news recently that could be the big reason behind price gain.
