Ridiculous, 14-year olds are not going to be paying with BTC. OverStock seems more reasonable as a catalyst but minor IMO. Neither are going to push Bitcoin anywhere fundamentally.

Zynga and Overstock? lol

No, we will push $10k by 2014 with Facebook, Netflix, Amazon, eBay, Starbucks, Newegg, Dell, IBM, Wallstreet, and Wrinklevoss ETF on top of Zynga, Overstock, and porn.com (why does everyone forget porn!)

Newegg....check
Dell...check

IBM? I worked for them, they don't sell computers anymore (services and solutions). They sold their computers to Lenovo.

Winklevoss ETF...coming soon

Wall Street...will probably come with the NY regulation and ETFs

Amazon... http://purse.io

Getting there.

First seastead company actually selling sea homes: Ocean Builders https://ocean.builders  Of course we accept bitcoin.

I'm having some serious de ja vu moments with the price and what people think of it. My friend was dead serious when he said that bitcoin would never rise above 100$ because it would just be unrealistic. Now that very same friend says that bitcoin rising over 2000$ is simply so unrealistic that it won't gonna happen. To my understanding he hasn't got any bitcoins because he's too poor to buy them but I owe him the big thanks for telling me about bitcoin in 2011. I remember he used his 300 Mhash/s gamer's PC to mine exactly 1 bitcoin in 4 days and pretty much threw it away for not being worth the effort Tongue

Wow, this thread is a blast from the past. But looking back we were at higher prices back in January this year and have followed the typical bubble-pattern, rather than rising north of $1000. Overstock actually did some PR for bitcoin and even included it in its advertisements on TV, so they're definitely a big proponent of bitcoin. I almost forgot about Zynga, though Cheesy

There is still nothing so major that it would allow bitcoin price to reach so high numbers,
Going over 1000 $ is a longshot, and i seriously doubt we will see that this year; im even surprised we're even stabile in the 600-ish range.
Still im glad about spreading adoption, that cant be a bad thing, but would prefer more investors, rather than merchants.

Investors are coming. We need the right vehicles for investors to join the party. Many don't want the hassle of dealing with some strange bitcoin exchange. They just want to invest in the technology (aka buy bitcoins). That's what the Winklevosses are there for! They are effectively the interface between the technology and bitcoin ecosystem and the regular investors ecosystem. There are interesting times ahead!

Yeah, these interesting times have been ahead for what -- more than a year now? Hold it, hold it, it's going to the moon every second now. Just wait for the winkelwoos to get their ETF done.

Yeah well, those things need time. No one has ever doubted that. Also, are those things available? They aren't there yet, so we can't tell whether they will really do the trick or not. For the really big investors, Bitcoin is also too small as of now. It needs some smaller investors to push it further first. We'll see Smiley
