Bitcoin Community Requests Extension To BitLicense Comment Period

Today, Ben Lawsky and the New York Department of Financial Services published their proposed regulations for bitcoin and other virtual currencies dubbed “BitLicense.” The regulations are far reaching and require anyone who transmits or receives cryptocurrencies as a business (aka everyone) to apply for and hold a BitLicense. This has led many in the bitcoin community to sign onto a public letter requesting an extension for public comments from the NYDFS.
