I recently was hacked, and several of my other accounts were too. They have the history of what IP logged in and when. They also let me block IPs outside of a set of boundaries, like no TOR IPs and no IPs outside of the US just for your account. I was wondering if this is possible for the new forum software, to make accounts securer for people that don't use TOR without effecting others.

Yeah, that would be a great idea. Maybe even lock it to what browser / operating system you're using, though the 2-factor auth that is going to be implemented should cut down on a lot of the account hacking.

While I agree that some people just cannot be helped and will still end up being hacked. This option would be great for people that just won't ever use Tor to browse this forum.

Having a Security page on your profile would be great, where you have all the security options, with this included.

The things that have been suggested here sound like a lot of the features which blockchain.info has, which is a good idea. I think the forum could look at how they deal with security and take a few pointers. I'm sure if people set up two factor it will cut down on all the accounts being hacked, though obviously not everyone will use it. The only time I ever see people getting their blockchain account emptied is when they haven't set up this.

Well, bitcointalk is a forum, blockchain.info is an online wallet service. A bit like comparing apples to orranges.
But I do agree though, 2 factor auth. and some other security features are a must in here.

Hacked accounts is one of the plagues of this forum especially you have no easy way to prove that an account was your.

Your solution would require creating and mantaining a list of TOR nodes, VPN IPs, IPs for each country, etc... not an easy task at all.

Many people (just like me) have static IP connettivity. It would be nice to limit access to my account only from a limited number of IPs I own.
Other people could use 2FA.

I think this is a great idea and should be one of the priorities in the new forum software most exchanges and online wallets do this to make it a little bit more secure with this and 2 factor it would be pretty secure.

Any hacker can get access to a proxy on an infected machine in your country.

It won't change anything, they will just change their tactics.
