For the past few days my computer has been crashing randomly, so i have not been able to mine. I am running windows 7 64 bit
ram: 6 gb ddr3
motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD5
cpu: amd phenom x6 1090t (was oc, but is know back at stock)
video card: 1 5870 and 1 6950 (flashed to 6970)
the reason for the 2 cards is because I bitcoin mine in this computer so 5870 is for mining only.
PSU: antec 900 watt from there gamer series.
hhd: 1 intel ssd and 3 320 gb hhd

When i boot the computer up i get a boot error code that is continues long beeps. the manual says that the video card is not installed properly, but i have tried running the computer with each card individually, and the computer still beeps. I was getting this error long before my computer started crashing, but it would always post after it gave the error a few times so i didn't think it was a big problem.

When the computer successfully boots it makes it to windows, and then after a while it will just crash. When it crashes sometime it will give a BSOD, but other times the screens will get visual tearing then go black, but the fans are still on. ( none of my fans are plugged into the mobo because i use a fan controller)

I know the ram is good because I ran windows memory diagnosis, and it gave errors so i took a stick of ram out, and then the test returned no errors.

I thought the cpu might be bad, but i was able to get through 3 test of prime95, and then i stopped it, and then a few min later it crashed. If the cpu was the problem i would think it would not have crashed during the test. I figure that if the cpu was bad it would not be able to even run at such a stress level.

Heat is not a problem because during prime the cpu never got over 40 C (its water cooled)

I know windows is not the problem because i booted off a ubunu live usb, and it still crashed.

The 2 things left are the mobo and psu.

I dont think it is the psu because in windows i started bitcoin mining which would pull a huge about of power from the psu, and it crashed. The reason i dont think it is the psu is that even if i dont mine the computer still crashes, and i figure that if the psu can provide enough power to mine even just from a few min it would be able to run the computer just web browsing with no problems, but the computer crashes even if i dont mine.

Does anyone know what the problem is. Is my mobo in fact bad, or is it something else that i have missed. Any help is greatly appreciated. I want to get back to mining

Have you chekc the video cards? pull one out, mine for a while and then swap it out and do that same. At least then you will be able to acknowledge the GPUS are good.
