I was wondering if anyone has ever tried mining on a mac before.  I know that it sounds very retarded, and is but If anyone has any mac and mining related stories to tell, share away.

Also I would like to point out that I don't mine on a mac, mostly because I am not fucking retarded and Have a basic understanding of bitcoin and how to mine it, I am wondering if there are any fucking retards who have tried and what their experience with it was.

If you want to waste some times and do it as an hobby then there's an app called MacMiner. It can miner SHA256 and Scrypt on your mac. Give it a try, but it won't worth it  Wink

That's not mining on a Mac... that's ASIC mining on Windows running in a VM on a Mac Smiley.  You want Mac mining?  THIS is Mac mining:

Natively running a p2pool node, coin QT and daemons (BTC, NMC, IXC, I0C, FSC).  I only started up MacMiner for the screenshot - I most certainly do not use it on a regular basis.  I've also got a few different mining software distributions compiled and running natively (like ccminer and cudaminer).  Oh, and I have vanitygen also compiled and running natively as well.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

I've used vanity gen before. It's  great program, but I can't figure out how to use an amd card on it, it only works on my cpu.

I just don't understand why you would want to mine on a machine that delivers significantly worse results

For most people, it's all the have and they just want to test out mining to see if they should spend more on a dedicated miner.

Maybe, but they will get demotivated pretty fast, because on macs it is nearly impossible to turn a profit after electricity.

Of course they will make no profit, but they get to sign up for a pool, figure out how pools work, and figure out how hash rate and other mining things work. The also will make a fraction of a coin, so they can also use that to test out the crypto coin network. I used to mine on a mac as soon as I discovered this whole mining thing

They're going to have to find a pool that allows 2 Satoshi withdrawals before they can test any transactions. Good luck with that! Lol.

No, not gaming...
Mining won't really destroy your mac, but the main reason its bad is because there is no airflow in them. The new iMac has tiny vent holes at the bottom of the computer, and a very unpowerful fan. I tried mining on it and it hit extremely high temperatures.
