So we've all noticed the new "legendary member" status - just a post to say to all "newbies" that even us "legendary members" were also newbies once and also understand that as accounts are *sold* here don't think that just because a forum member appears to be "legendary" doesn't mean they couldn't actually be a scammer.

Before you *trust* any forum member you'd be best to check that member's posting history and also their reputation (and no - my account is not for sale).

but can i trust you when you say, trust nobody  Tongue ?

Newbies aren't a scourge nor does it represent inexperience. It really just shows that they are new to the social side of bitcoin or at the very least bitcointalk.org. That said, there are always scammers. People would stop at nothing to get some of your "magically" untraceable currency.

I would have to agree with OP, I've been a member since 2011, but I am not very intimate with the Bitcoin protocol.

There are a tremendous amount of warnings about using escrow and not using post count or rank as a measure as to how trustworthy someone is.

The only reliable way to measure someone's trustworthiness is via the trust system (and only with people that are on the default trust list). People that have used their account in many deals tend to not sell their account (at least from what I can tell).

I believe it's either posts or activity. If it's posts it's definitely somewhere above 2400, for activity somewhere above 1000.

damn, i wish i had an activity of 1022  Cheesy

To be honest it has been hard lately as there has been few *quality* topics to post in lately.

I have this fun hobby of finding absolutely shit threads, and then adding a dose of reality and wit to make them winners.

Remember Aaron Swartz, a 26 year old computer scientist who died defending the free flow of information.

If it is by activity points, what actions increases our points? Posts? Time spent? Quality of our posts?

Thanks for the reply and info Smiley

Well most of the good stuff is always in D@T
Some have started appearing in alternate crytocurrencies of all places as well but that's development discussion.

How to get legendary status  Huh

You need to have activity somewhere between 775 and 1030 (each user has a different random number).

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0
Legendary: Activity: the Legendary membergroup has no universal activity requirement.
You are guaranteed to become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity,
but the exact point in this range at which you become Legendary is random per user.

In other words, you need to have been active since the beginnings of the forum, or to stay active for a few more years Tongue

Assuming you are asking me about this the answers are:

- as soon as the legendary status was introduced (in the last week?)
- I joined late 2011 (had lurked since mid 2011 which was when I first read about Bitcoin)

As I stated - "we all were newbies once" so don't worry - if you find the forum interesting or useful then you'll *grow*.

How much time is it needed in time?

Even at the lowest requirement (775 activity), it will take you more than 2 years to reach that, provided that you are going to be active in every period. Smiley
