I'm guessing this is bitcoin that was sent to a wallet address, but has not yet shown up there? Are you sure your MultiBit wallet-supplied address and the one used by the sending party are exactly the same? Has it been a while since it was sent?  If so, have you reset the blockchain in your MultiBit, or shut down the program and restarted it?
