It's down for upgrades and security fixes.  Will be for a bit longer, according to the (presumed) owner, who posted as much a few days ago.

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

Anybody have any news on The Road? I have BTC in their I need access too and some "clients" orders that need to be filled. I'm all for heightened security but when the site's down for 3 days it compromises my business. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try it again after 11pm Eastern Standard Time.

UPDATE : "So the server went down unexpectedly today. This was very unnerving because we thought it had somehow been seized or something terrible like that. Fortunately it was just some kind of glitch and we were able to reboot. Everything has been backed up and is totally current, but we are not going to turn the site back on for a couple of days while we work out a way to prevent such problems. We are terribly sorry for this inconvenience, but we want to provide the best service possible, and random outages just aren't going to cut it. We know it must be terribly frustrating, but we are taking the better-safe-than-sorry approach and we hope you understand." (www.silkroadmarket.org)

Just give it a day or so.   The site did change addresses recently, so I think the beginning is now silkroad*****.onion, not sure what the other amount of characters are off the top of my head.

Also that joke of try other roads is fairly true now, there are alternatives.   Be safe, share what works well.

The following is an interview with BitcoinPorn found on Alternative Roads.

?: Why did you start Alternative Roads?
BP: One day I received this PM from an anonymous person that wished to be anymous.

?: Anything you would like to add?
BP: Yes. Please continue to PM me and I'll make sure you remain anymous by posting your personal PM
?: Thank you.
BP: (putting pants back on) Thank you. This was a wonderful interview.

The silk road is no longer in use, this isn't the 18th century.
