Russian banking system is being cut from west. The only way out of it is Bitcoin. Russia got enormous resources to mine most of the Bitcoins.

This makes no sense.

Why not regulate it and watch it?  the crooks will simply use it.

It's like the war on drugs.  You simply cannot stop it, so stop wasting your time and money doing so.  You simply help the criminals in the long term with this type of stuff.

Because the are retards missing the point, just like everyone not being involved in Bitcoin as we speak.

Yep and they think they can control it by saying "you can't do that"

when you're saying that to drug lords and mobsters you're pissing up a rope.  how these people can't see that I have no idea.

"Banning crypto" is within itself a vapid concept.

Exactly. It's not that "criminals" or "terrorists" use it - that's just an excuse - it's the fear of something they can't control or easily tax and that's why they're stepping in early to try control it before it gets too big for them to handle.

It is not as bad as it sounds. The government hasn't banned the possession of Bitcoins. The only thing is that converting Bitcoins to cash or cash to Bitcoin will get a bit trickier. Also, the tax situation will get more complex. But still, I don't think they will implement it by next year... if they actually wanted to ban it, then they would have already done that instead of waiting for one more year.  Grin

People have this jaded view that if the government bans something its going to drive people away from it.  We are so nascent that it would likely attract more people than it would drive away to be honest.

It is not even possible to ban the possession of bitcoin. It is simply too easy to hide the fact that you hold bitcoin. You could easily store your wallet file in an encrypted format that would make it impossible for anyone to know that it contained private keys, or even better to have a brain wallet that is sufficiently secure so that the brain wallet "farmers" would not be able to steal your bitcoin

What does that even mean?

1. That you cant say UK and EU. If you say EU you also mean UK.

2. Russia is much more important for BTC or any economy as it is UK.
