This is meant as a simple message to send to merchants to introduce the concept of bitcoins to them and provide information on how to get setup. If you see any ways to improve this message, feel free to edit it here:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Email_pitch_to_merchants

This was originally written to convince a person who sells alternative medicine, and I left that text in as an example. It should be modified to suit your target audience.

You might want to consider Bitcoin as a payment option for your website. It is a decentralized digital currency.

The video here helps explain how it works:

http://www.weusecoins.com/

If you chose to accept bitcoins on your site, you can use this as a payment processor:

https://bitpay.com/

and they automatically convert bitcoins into USD and deposit in your bank account. There are other payment processors on this page:

The benefit to your business is that there are a lot of people with bitcoins that like to support businesses that use bitcoins. This means basically tapping into a niche market of people that are into a fringe alternate currency that might also be open to alternative medical products. [NOTE: modify the message here to relate to whatever the business is]

If you do start accepting them, let me know, and provide me a little press release. I will make sure it ends up on the bitcoin forums.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And in case you are wondering, I am not tied to any of the businesses or services listed above. I am just an advocate of bitcoin, and I like to see businesses accepting them.

It's important to keep requesting online merchants and sellers to accept Bitcoin.

Personally, I tend to send something along the lines of:
Quote
Dear Sir / Madam,

I'd love to place an order and buy XYZ with you, but I noticed you only accept PayPal and Credit Card. I really don't want to support malicious businesses such as PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, or the banking industry, because (in my humble opinion) they're very user-unfriendly, monopolistic, and even have hidden political agendas (remember the blocking of Wikileaks etc).

Would you please consider accepting Bitcoin payments? If you're not familiar with Bitcoin yet, see www.bitcoin.org or www.weusecoins.com for a starting point and further details. Tons of information is available online. Bitcoin is great *especially* for online merchants such as yourselves. Most importantly, Bitcoin is "free" (as in free speech), secure, easy, fast, and best of all: not owned or controlled by any person or company or authority.

Note that even if you don't want to receive any actual bitcoins yourself, by using a payment provider (such as bitpay.com or coinbase.com etc) you can immediately accept bitcoin payments, and receive the money in euros or dollars. Extremely easy to setup, and still with much lower fees than paypal or credit card providers dare to charge. And ZERO risk of chargebacks, fraud, or other typical problems with online payments. Best of both worlds!

One more thing: if you start accepting Bitcoin, it would also generate lots of publicity amongst the Bitcoin community. Bitcoin users are typically enthusiastic, generous, and rapidly growing in number, so that would result in even more orders.

I would definitely like to spend money with you guys, but I will not support paypal or similar evil industries. As soon as you support Bitcoin, I'll place my order.

Thanks for your consideration!

Feedback, suggestions, or other "Bitcoin support requests": post them here!

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
