New version bit qt pending balance 0.00?

hi. thanks for reading. here is my issue: old version of btc qt was just crashing, not even starting to sync anymore. i am using an imac. so i try all the tricks i've learned none work. finally decide to just download new version of btc qt. when i open it, it says 'pending balance 0.00.' there should be more than that. then it just crashes too. i have a recent wallet backup from august. i also still have the wallet.dat file (though didn't the new version of qt overwrite the old one?)

also, i have entire HD recently backed up which should have old version of btc qt which might help.

Another one with a Mac crashing. Post your debug.log from around the crash time please. Your version is 0.9.2.1?
