Hey!

I know there are numerous different ways to make a site provably fair, but what do you think is the best cryptographically fair way of generating numbers from 0-100?

Thanks! Smiley

I don't know much about PF, but aren't all those sites are using pretty much the same way to generate the number by generating sha512 of (client seed, server seed, nouce, daily secret) and converting the first few digits to a number?

I think most are. I was just wondering if there is a method that used much smaller hashes, and was scalable to any house edge percentage.

Hello

You need to apply any provably fair method to generate the random outcome. I think there is no best way to generate the best outcome, as long as the outcome is randomized and can't be manipulated.

Yes, but there are some provably fair systems that are more efficient and safer than others.

I think no decent bitcoin game site is going to use anything other than HMAC-SHA-512 anymore. There is no reason not to. Use anything deemed "less" and people will simply not play there.

The PrimeDice/Just-Dice system seems to be the best implementation that has been done so far.  Also an honorable mention for SatoshiDice's original version which was excellent too.
