No. Alcohol is way to harmful, so if discovered today, it'd never be legal.

Doesn't matter if it's illegal or not, people would still drink.  Only difference is, government would get a cut from fines.  They tried to do it in the past but the public backlash was so severe they couldn't keep it outlawed, it was costing more to outlaw it than not as they were losing support.

I presume you're asking this in relation to marijuana laws; until people really start pushing back against the law, it'll never be legalized.  There was enough anti-marijuana propaganda in public school to following the 60's revolution to keep people from doing so, but the public opinion seems to be steadily moving into acceptance.

Cheaper to enforce the law and get tax revenue from legalizing it than driving alcohol underground and spend a huge deal of money on law enforcement and collect no tax revenue.

Alcohol kills more than all illegal drugs combined so I doubt it would be legalized nowadays, probably be ranked alongside crystal meth.

Tobacco would also likely be illegal considering how bad and addictive it is.

Well I don't think alcohol is bad at all, it's really up to each and everyone to be responsible.

Anyway I don't think it would ever be possible for alcohol to be illegal. It's one of the only vent holes that society has to get rid of/prevent mass unrest. The system can get pretty oppressive and if functional members of society are not allowed any means of expunging the stress/frustration buildup from daily routines, things could get pretty ugly pretty fast.
Alcohol helps hardworking men and women forget, if only for a while, the reality they live in. This helps minimize risks of tension within the community and keeps the engine working as it should  Cheesy

Currently if it was illegal i dont think they would legalize it since societies infrastructures seem rigid once things are in place.

Every substance will become available once we learn to individually self govern. I cant see country sized laws lasting another 100 years.

I stopped drinking alcohol 2 years ago. Doctor said alcohol could caused high blood pressure.
Alcohol can disrupt the sympathetic nervous system, which, among other things, controls the constriction and dilation of blood vessels in response to stress, temperature, exertion, etc

You don't understand. In the U.S., there was a time that alcohol was illegal. The reason that it became legal again, was that the people used common law to force the government to make it legal. The only bad thing about the way that government did it was, they should have simply repealed the laws around legalized alcohol. Rather, they made more laws controlling it. We gained alcohol, but we lost freedom.

Free alcohol means, don't pay taxes on it. It also means, if you arm someone or damage his property while under the influence, you pay.

Alcohol is not as destructive as some would have you believe especially if one knows their limit and doesn't stray beyond it. It's very common for cannabis advocates to constantly slam alcohol usage and/or issues as their leg to stand on while running PR for decrim and such, considering how ubiquitous usage is and consequently associated problems. These comparisons will only work on a certain % of people so it's better to tout the lack of danger for cannabis rather than constantly malign alcohol users to get your way. Live and let live. I'm not directing this at anyone, it's just sort of what I've seen from the green community in their PR game. However, going to the lengths of saying alcohol is in the same league as meth or crack is the fastest way to lose your PR angle considering well over 50% of the public consumes alcohol on some sort of regular basis. Alcohol is something that most responsible users can say enough is enough of, neither of the two aforementioned drugs have regular users that can stop that habit.
