Bitcoin Blockchain Initial Sync Time Dramatically Reduced By Headers-First Sync

Downloading the Bitcoin blockchain is about to become a lot easier, ending a common complaint that users have about the barrier of entry to using Bitcoin software. With this new feature, new users can be fully synced with Bitcoin Core closer to 4 hours, as opposed to 2 days on an average internet connection.

I highly commend them for making this happen. My question is this: Who benefits from this change?

My bet is that many people, perhaps the majority of qt clients, will greatly benefit, but I would like some specific scenarios from other people, if possible. For me, personally, if it is going to take 4 FUCKING hours to download or get started, it might as well take two days. My life shows no functional improvement from one time limit to the other.

I am unusual to the point of alien. Hopefully some semi-human people can chime in to help me out.

Great improvement. Why do the fussy ppl still complain about this? Comparing to 2 days, is 4 hours still long?

I kinda agree, a lot of people don't have patience to wait even for 4 hours, but if you're a newb getting into bitcoin I would always recommend a litewallet client. The bitcoin qt isn't too user friendly for the basic beginner in my opinion.

This is actually great news as the synch time was very off putting for me as a newb, but I agree with others that people should be encouraged to use a different light client for a number of reasons/.
