Apart from Bitcoin, Ripple, Quark, Dodgecoin, Litecoin, Mooncoin, Opal ..... Just wondering if anyone has any views? I'm just finding myself overwhelmed with the amount to chose from and knowing which ones are worth following more closely and understanding better to eventually invest in.

This is going to become another buy my shittycoin thread lol.
Anyway there are several project worth to follow like DRK, BTCD, GEMS, CKC, etc.

In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

i'm not convinced mooncoin will last. It seemed dead then came back but if it almost died once it can do it again.

ridgid supply coins: Some of the POS coins, such as Peercoin, nxt, bitshares. POW coins such as bitcoin will wither.

fixed value coins: nubits

2.0 platforms: too early to tell

Remove litecoin and dogecoin IMO - pretty useless in the literal sense of the word.

The key to survival is whether a currency is useful and innovative but most of all disruptive.

I'm not certain what dogecoin will do. I thought it was a shit coin that would be dead in months when it launched. Nevertheless it's still here a year later.

Define "last".

In a year; BTC, LTC, DOGE, DRK will still be around... along with shitloads of other dying/crippled cryptos

In 10 years? Impossible to say, but my guess is that there will be some Anon-crypto, probably decentralized (eg xc, xst, sdc... Whatever gets flawless and functional first)
BTC will probably be outrunned by some smoother, faster, more functional crypto that is designed to be a general worldwide crypto that will piss off Visa, Mastercard, Banks, accountants...  Grin

There will probably be some government/company-developed crypto around too. (Ethereum?)

Shortterm;
My crystalball tells me that the anon-crypto that manage to merge with openbazaar (or similar) will be a winner when the DarknetMarkets gets shut down/users start moving to OB.
This would be a winner with the massive and insane cashflow it would provide.. atleast for a few years.
The key would be to have the crypto easy available for the crowd. (eg pay with visa-card for crypto)

-Grg

ps.
A thing within Crypto that I never understood is why no genius make a coin "complete" before release.
To get publicity it should be released in a basic version and be updated every 2 weeks or so to keep the interest up/cashflow in.
In eg 6 months/12 updates there would be a functional, perfect coin for whatever reasons were decided when the idea of the coin originated.  Huh
ds.

edit; Trying to make more sense.

I wondered that. It's really annoying having to check if there's a new wallet out each time you want to check your balance. It's much better to release a coin that rarely needs updates.

How far in the future are we talking about? Tomorrow? Next year? Ten years from now? None of them will probably be around 10 years from now.
