Is there a newbie prison?
What are the restrictions?

there was in the past(it was about number of post per time or day and you were isolated in the newbie section, if i'm not mistaken, actually i experienced it when i was a newbie, but i don't remember anymore), now there isn't anymore

your restriction for now is the inability to upload an avatar and your sig is restricted as well

1. Six-minute posting interval (if you submit a post before 6 mins are up, the timer gets rest and you have to wait 6 minutes from the time of your last submission)

It was gone a long time ago.
The main restrictions are having a 6 minutes break between post decreased linearly with activity. Reduced to 74 seconds when you get 16 activity. The signature is subjected to restrictions, no links, no long characters. You will have a warning message sent to the receiving party when sending PMs. You can send up to max 5 PM per hour at activity below 16.

Intervals have effect on posting, sending private message, reporting a post to moderator, leaving a trust feedback and using the search box

I miss the days of the newbie subforum. The forum was a bit more of a zoo back a couple years ago. Hopefully bitcoin turns bullish this year and it becomes more of a zoo once again.

The newbie posting restrictions are a good thing. Obviously we were all noobs once & most people on here are absolutely fine but a lot of noobs are spammers & or peoples alts/sock puppets. It's annoying seeing the same old FUD & trolling in the bitcoin discussion & speculation forums.

I think newbie jail should be brought back to be honest, at least it'd stop sock puppets, they might not have the patience to post normally for long enough before they're released.

agree to this. i like the newbie jail to be brought back too coz nowadays there are too many newbies spamming the whole forum specially trying to scam in the lending section

Welcome to the forums CV2!  Be sure to read sub forum rules too, because there are some not so obvious ones in different places.  For example if you ask for a no-collateral loan then you WILL get negative rep, and it will most likely be neg rep from a moderator or trusted person (this is the worst kind of neg rep).  That is a bad way to start!  There is no way to know this unless you read the rules of the lending section. 

So it is not a restriction programmed into the limits for noobies, but there are always lots of new accounts doing naughty things.  So they tend to have pretty restrictive rules for them.

But don't worry you will be a non-noobie in no time.  Just relax and enjoy some conversations here.  There is lots to learn and talk about.

Newbie prison is basically a restriction that was set for newbies to only be able to post in the begineer and help section( Can't remember the original name). This did help to prevent newbie spams and reduce the trolling as it takes around 4 weeks to become a Jr member.

As anyone who frequents the speculation section knows, there's one psycho new account spammer who's been there for months.

In that thing's case if there was a newbie jail it would just farm and stack up accounts and carry on as normal.

There's a balance in there somewhere. Obviously the owners want as much fresh blood as possible. At the same time existing users will drift away if it turns into a heap of moronic, scammy shit, or more of a one than it is now.
