.bit domains - DNS issues domaincoin.net and dotbit.me

I registered 2 .bit domains. One at www.domaincoin.net, the other at www.dotbit.me
Just to try, but after one month, none of them are visible online.

Dotbit.me
- easy to register, impossible to get the domain online.
- very difficult DNS editor, your on your own....
You can also surf at their proxy, but not a single .bit domain is visible.
Even a sample site is not visible.
They also give not a single example to set the DNS or to forward to an IP.
So I ask support, and I keep you guys informed.
>>UPDATE<< The support was friendly, and fast. Not directly to the point like most helpdesks, but the .bit domain is up and running now. They did not answered all my questions.

Better looking DNS editor, but with every entry you get the error: Invalid record name. This name belongs to a different zone.
- It is impossible to shut OFF the HTTP forwarding.
They also give not a single example to set the DNS or to forward to an IP.
So I ask support, and I keep you guys informed.
>>UPDATE<< The support was friendly, but slower (24 hours later then Dotbit) responding. They fixed the DNS and the .bit domain is up and running.

Update: Domaincoin.net is planning to make the DNS more user-friendly to edit. Nice to see that they have an open mind for suggestions.

This thread is just to help me and others with the same problems. So when you have something helpfull, feel free to post it!

When you have your own server, or dedicated hosting, use the format: (preferred)
{"ns": ["ns1.yourdns.com", "ns2.yourdns.com"]}
You can also forward to an IP with the format:
{"ip":"1.2.3.4", "map":{"*":{"ip": "1.2.3.4"}}}
Wait for 12-20 hours after saving.....

With domaincoin.net you can also user their nameservers, and forward the zones like this example where domain.bit should be your .bit domain and 1.2.3.4 should be your ip:

I registered a .bit tld directly through the Namecoin client and never got it working

Doesnt exist - I went to their site the day I heard of their extension its firefox only.

i was goig nto work with NMC at some promotion but due to problems loading the domains i just skipped it ;x

okay I got the chrome extension,  I'm using opendns and I've found that I get problems trying to navigate the various .bit domains unless I put a .pe after .bit then it seems to load them.  For example cars.bit doesnt work but cars.bit.pe does.  I think this is a phishing site though so dont use it!  Its just a straight rip from the cars.com website.

Problem with Chrome is that when you type:  cars.bit   Google accept this as a search term.

Above in the browser Chrome ask : "Do you want to go to http://cars.bit ?

Solution:
When you type in the adress bar in Chrome:  http://www.cars.bit/  then it goes correctly to the .bit domain.

.bit names are like useless arent they? Not like you can actually put content and host them

You can host .bit, put a Worpress install on it, mail with it, like any other domain.
Only one difference..... the DNS is not accepted worldwide. So you have to install a plugin in Chrome to see the website.

At this time, .bit registrations are most for "future use" because one day .bit domains are accessible like any other domain. And maybe at that time you regret registration.

I registered: alts.bit

But never got around to figuring out how to use it ....

so its working.

Here is one better TLD zone with name *.coin
So you can take any name like my.coin etc.
It is much easier to operate and support (you will see).
