I am a newbie to this cryptocoin buisness (about 2 months).  I have been using blockchain.info for the two bitcoin wallets I have.  I have two wallets because I have "subscribed" to mining from two different companies and want to keep track of the earnings separately.

I read that it is better to keep your bitcoin wallet(s) on your own pc and not use another source.  It said to download the bitcoin core wallet.  So that is what I have done and I am now syncing it.  But I can find no directions on how to use it.

I also have downloaded the Litecoin qt wallet and I am also mining two sites here so I have two Litecoin addresses.  This I found directions on how to do so I can keep track of the two companies separately.

I thought that bitcoin core would be the same, but I don't see where it it.

With the litecoin wallet, I downloaded it and then on the send page, I gave the wallet that downloaded with it a name.  I then clicked on "new address" and got a new address which I also gave it the other company's name.  So what were the results?:
1.  On the overview page it shows me the total of all my litecoins from both wallets.
2.  On the send page, I can click "inuts" and it shows me both my wallets and I not only can see the total but also the transactions.

So can I do this with the Bitcoin core wallet too?  I do not see where it even shows me a Bitcoin address on any of the screens and I do not find "new address" anywhere where I could establish two addresses to use.

Input would be greatly appreciated.

I would also like to know what you think of keeping the wallets on my own pc (and back them up onto a stick) rather than using something like blockchain.

Thanks in advance for anyones input.

No, wallet don't need to be synced. You go to tab receive, and click request payment. New window opens and you can see your address.

thanks.

I think when you run core for first time, there is no addy generated. I had to wait till full sync ... but not sure about. It's quite time ago.

But I can tell: you can speed up the sync. by using a bootstrap
just DL the bootstrap (it's a blockchain up to certain date) via torrent ... it's much faster.

search this forum or google

Just use Multibit instead.

If you're sure with security aspects (2FA and strong passwords) use blockchain.info. It can be accessed worldwide and is really simple to use!

That works too.
