I am wondering if somebody already used it and can provide me with a Bitcoin-address.
I'd like to find out, if Microsoft keeps a percentage of the Bitcoin, since they most likely would store that in a single-address(or at least wouldn't make a address for it every time)

The payment is done through Bitpay so there is no chance you will find out, unless Microsoft publicly announces their address(es)

Did microsoft say they are going to keep a portion of the BTC they get from sales? I hope microsoft didn't cause the crash from $350 to $310.

I am not sure, how it exactly works, but as far as I know, you can tell Bitpay you want to keep a percentage of your sell in Bitcoin. So, I guess on portion is sold for fiat and send to your bank account and one portion is directly send to your bitcoin address.

If the payment goes through Bitpay the address you pay to - even though it "belongs" to Microsoft - it is what Bitpay is using and probably a one time address. The actual Microsoft bitcoins will go to an address only Bitpay and Microsoft knows about.

Why do you need the address?

BitPay handle things on their behalf, so it's not possible to see that information on the blockchain.

It would be nice to see transaction volumes or sales figures, but only MS will release those.  Wink

It think, they might be more interested in the use of the technology, and the savings it brings. {Their fiat banking fees must be huge!}

Just imagine a gigantic fire hose dumping bitcoins onto the market. That's how the Microsoft integration functions in the real world.

I am thinking of adding a few XBox games using bitcoin. Curious to see how smooth the process turns out to be.

Firstly Microsoft whole enterprise was secured by stock investments. they were and most likely always will be a part of Microsofts business structure, much like a lot of huge businesses. They use dividend stocks to secure backup finances for the company.  so I can guarantee they are keeping a portion of the bitcoins that are transacted in the sales.

Secondly, Please go back and look at the charts of Bitcoin for the past 6 months. Microsoft had nothing to do with the value of bitcoin is any way. Not positive or negative. ALl this hype of picking up more and more merchants who are dumping the coins every two weeks on top of the miners who are barely making a profit mining right now, in addition to the hundreds of scam cloud sites dumping coins continuously, and the developers of bitcoin refusing to put an effort in creating a demand for the coin to stabilize its tradable value and what you have is a steady 40 to 60 dollars every two weeks decline. more people are selling bitcoins that are buying them. basic trading logic Smiley

I don't think any of these companies that accept Bitcoin hold onto them for any period of time. Easier to liquidate

No - the Bitcoin option does not seem to exist either on XBOX software or on the MS site.

This was overhyped non-news; I was unable to use BTC to buy anything or fund my Microsoft account. Do I need a Bitpay wallet or something and fund it from Bitpay using some super secret 40 step process? Bizarre...

There is no reason why the bitcoin would need to accumulate at a single microsoft controlled address if their intention is to keep a portion of bitcoin related proceeds. They can generate an unlimited number of bitcoin addresses, just like anyone else can. It would also be likely that they would have bitpay hold any bitcoin they accumulate similar to how overstock has bitpay hold their bitcoin

Thanks, that is actually the first valuable information I got out of this thread.
I hate how people always just speculate about things. Just give me some data, I can look at. Maybe I find something, maybe not. Still better than just speculating ...

There was no speculation about what I said. You just had a problem comprehending it.

On the other hand the ONLY useful information you "got" is based on speculation.
