Yep, that's what happens when you try and pull 400W through cables and connectors rated for 250W or so. I'm still amazed that their engineers approved the design. The real surprise is the ones that haven't caught on fire yet.

They should have shipped with two PCIe connectors. Or more. Antminer S3 pull less power than one Neptune cube (pretty sure) and they have four connectors? AM Cubes could approach 400W at full clock on two PCIe connectors and there were more than a few reports of those melting down (though the cheap fuses were more of a problem).

Same thing happened with my cube 38 GH BTC miners plug melted on power supply and burnt up like that, I was also using the same 850 power supply.

It should be used Corsair RM850 or Corsair RM1000 and nothing will happen.

I'm kinda surprised the wires roasted through. What's the wire gauge on those leads?

Yeah too much power going through those leads... even an EVGA G2 1300W on a KNC Jupiter will get the cables warm/hot.

Turns out Corsair uses 18awg wire.. What would be great is a PCIe to single 8awg (automotive grade so its very flexable) adaptor.. that would be nice for someone to sell.. Plus those things should be individually fused.. or with a push in breaker perhaps.. 30amp enough I wonder..?

Depends which as CXs use 18AWG while the larger CMs are 16AWG. You can mix the cables between the two if you have multiple units though.

alot of peopel said about burning on KNCs this is not unusual - glad i didnt buy them

HX units, im switching to modified HP 1200 watt server Power Supplies, and for KNC each cube gets a 40amp fuse lol
