Since graduation I have decided that it's time to recreate my vision of a virtual reality simulator of (hopefully) epic proportions. In spite of the fact I'm now unemployed I'm determined to build a VR experience that will attract a loyal fanbase and one that will hopefully lead to a full time career doing what I enjoy most (designing stuff  Grin).

Now that the intro is out of the way lets get onto the subject of my custom altcoin. My first disclaimer is that this coin is not necessarily going to be orientated towards competitive trading. Instead the idea is to create a coin that is specific to the Atoms4D universe, for example I want users to be able to buy fuel, electricity, weaponry and so on with the altcoin. In addition I'm also attributing value to every asset I build into the simulator, even land will have a price and can be owned/rented as virtual real estate. I think this will add a unique level of strategy and long term I intend to attract companies into the universe who could even offer incentives to users to protect their property. I think that a lot of my ideas in this regard have been inspired by Bitcoin and so I'm seeking advice from the community.

Given the nature of this project I'm curious what you would recommend in terms of specs for the altcoin? At the moment I'm thinking along the lines of using Scrypt and I've also decided I want to use powers of 2 which is just a random idea lol.

e.g... 32 Coins per Block ... 32,768 Halving Rate

Ideally I would like to design a relatively reliable coin and one that is will most likely only be mined by my sims userbase. Also I know I will get asked about Bitcoin and I feel it's simply not accessible enough in terms of mining. I like the idea of Atoms4D users mining and to be honest I basically just like the idea of branding my own coin for a niche community.

All thoughts and feedback is appreciated, also for more details check out the site and follow us on Twitter!

. . .

Great Empire Coin™ (GEC™) is the official currency of Great Empire of Earth and is divisible into cents and mills, and has denominations of mega-, terra-, and exacoins.  Earth (i.e., Great Empire of Earth), being an anarchist despotism (Earth law is licensed to the general public for its [non-mandatory] enforcement thereby), has Writcoin clients serve as its heterarchical monetary authority: anyone may “mint” GE coins; however, the coins have to be “minted” through official channels (e.g., Writcoin™) to be guaranteed official recognition.

. . .

Production hails from the one; therefore, a relevant monitor of consumption does so as well.
