Hello there, I'm making this thread in order to ask for some help in regards to a project I have in mind.

Me and a few people have started, about 2 years ago, a micronation and I personally dedicated some time to it even though it was just for fun. We wanted to create a community and we've gathered around 100 people but projects like this (a micronation) tend to fade if there's nothing to keep the people together such as real territories, real borders or anything palpable at all. That's why I came up with the idea of creating a coin for this. I've chosen the Cryptonote algorithm because this way any member of our community can mine with his/her own personal computer. Also, it will be PoW only. I will make a separate announcement page when things are getting closer to becoming reality.

The thing is, when I tried to make the coin happen I got stuck on compiling it and I ran into some problems, I also need some advice on how we should handle the nodes because we really lack the hardware and there aren't many willing to contribute with money. I don't need any changes to the basic algorithm just small details so there won't be much work for a professional dev. The way I will pay is by giving a part of the premine to the one that will help us. We're a small community and we would really appreciate the help.

The coin will be used probably for trading among our members or who knows maybe we'll expand. I hope this message will be received well, thank you in advance.

This sounds like an interesting idea. I don't want to be discouraging, but what would be the advantages of this coin? Any unique features? You have to be careful because an altcoin costs hundreds of dollars to make, and hiring a professional dev will not be cheap. Just make sure it is worth your while.

You must be rich as hell. Early bitcoin whale?

Anyway, I think what you should do is accept an already existing cryptocurrency, such as bitcoin. If you accept bitcoin in your micronation, you have already put yourself in the map and you will have a lot of support.

People starting altcoins are always seem as scammers that want to get other people's bitcoins, so good luck with your altcoin if you don't just accept btc.

Where do you saw him saying he is an early adopter ? You are bit right about how altcoins are seen, but what he want is to make people from his group to be able to mine it from their PC so a new altcoin, not very known nor valuated is the best idea for me.

interesting idea and something i dream of doing some time in the future  Cool

if i was you (not many resources and hardware, community already in place) i would clone a coin like black coin and go for POS instead of POW, i would set a premine in the first blocks and then distribute the coins to the community members. with POS people need to have just a pc/laptop and a stake of coins, no need for heavy electricity usage and specific hardware.

cryptonote would give you anon transactions (is not clear if you choose cryptonote also because is anon), blackcoin-like coin has transparent blockchain, compiling is quite easy and wallet is similar to bitcoin. this solution would reduce the costs of producing (and mantaining) your cryptocurrency network.

This is very sound advice.

Would love to hear more about what you are doing and might be able to help. You can PM to discuss more.

what's stopping you to use an existing coin? with the help of outside network, the coin of your micro nation will be more decentralized and more healthy in a way that there are more users of a said coin, unless your micro nation wanted to own majority of the coins and sees that it would be better in general.

Why not since the creation of crypto currency and it's being an open source people are now creating token or coin for their community or organization,we never know maybe one day your coin will become popular if your micro nation become popular, the group will carry your coin into being popular.

Don't waste your time on this. This coin, even if you manage to properly code and release it, won't help you.
You said that you have nothing to keep the people together and altcoin won't change it.
I would rather see you follow examples of other micro nations around the globe like Liberland and accept bitcoin as your currency.
And maybe the best what you can do is accept that your micronation won't survive not matter what and give up the idea?

I'm sorry for answering so late, I didn't realize people responded, apparently there are no email notifications in here (or I didn't activate them  Huh). I thought about your proposal but I'm thinking about this coin as a way to expand our micronation. Maybe in time people among us will offer services for a certain amount of KLC (Klausercoin). That way we could have new people join us, mine with us and help us expand.

As a solution to the lack of hardware, we're thinking about online hosting and no longer handling the trouble of keeping up servers ourselves. The Cryptonote fork and the PoW still stands, the premine will be split among our community, among the leaders of the micronation and the ones that keep up the coin. We've got the website that was built two years ago but it's simply built on Wix. Anyone can visit it in case you want to get a little more info about us: http://klauserland.weebly.com/ (note that much of it hasn't been updated for more than 1 year but still stands).

Also, the micronation is meant to behave like a real state with political parties, voters, rulers and all.

The thing about it is that it will be ours, as a micronation we can't really have a fiat currency or at least a functioning one so crypto seems to be the best alternative. This coin might also help us expand.

Thanks, I'll try to get it going as soon as possible. I'll try to get a few campaigns going as well.

In that case, what's the reason behind trying to create a new coin? What are the drawbacks of just using Bitcoin?

I can't distribute Bitcoin to my community, they won't be able to mine it themselves and I can't attract people by giving free Bitcoins, that's just like buying users, they could just run away. By implementing our own coin, people have to work and contribute and give it value if they want something in return. Also, did you just make an account to say this?

Your micronation concept is as delusional as your misunderstanding of economics.

Year or so ago (see the posts I made about Pitcairn island), I did research your Constitution and efforts to occupy the island, etc.. You are just committing all the same mistakes of every nation all over again.

If you were smart, you would have offered a safe haven for capital and created a decentralized model, then maybe gotten support of some millionaires and billionaires.

As you said, you are just doing it for fun and not seriously. And it shows.

Your selection of the location was astute.

Wait what? We didn't try to occupy any island, I did say most of the info is old. What constitution did you read? I know micronations don't actually exist on paper or get recognized. It's a concept, it's something that drives people, you could've read about it on the website. We're a community, we aren't delusional, are you sure you're not mixing us up with somebody else?

Hello Bitcointalk members,
I want to tell you that being in Klauserland made me get into political parties at a microlevel, which is certaily helpful if you think about a future in politics.
Since 2015 i got involved in Reunions , discussions ( like the last one when we agreed not to let this coin go away , because , in fact , it has full potential for being a new general idea , although the coin itself can be a copy of a well-known one ) and projects of all kind.

We , Klauserland , are looking forward to hearing any idea from you , guys , so don't mind sending a PM to me or to The Duke.

I absolutely agree with you! You can use Bitcoin instead of creating a new altcoin that nobody needs. You can also become an ambassador of Bitnation instead of creating your own micronation. The platform gives you an opportunity to play with it in different ways. Just check it:
