I have been following crypto for a little while.

I have six r9 280 GPU's that were given to me from a former coworker.  He made a small fortune in the last year and is now taking an extended vacation.  He gave me some of his hardware and told me to use this forum if I had any questions.  Is it worth spending the capital for a motherboard, power supply and ram to make a mining rig with six GPU's?

What would be the best motherboard, processor, and power supply?

Any coins that would be best to mine?

I was able to get one of the GPU's to work with my desktop but that's all I can hook up.  I've been mining boolberry for a couple weeks.  I get cheap electricity so that's not a concern.

Is it worth it to spend more money to use the GPU's I've been given or should I just put them in a box and forget about them.  It wouldn't cost much but I don't want to waste my time if it's pointless.

Thanks in advance.

if it's for mining any crappy board and low end cpu/ram will do... the important part is the psu

Well you already have the expensive part of the rig (GPUs) and you say that your electricity is cheap. I would go for it.  Smiley

You can probably get the rest of the parts you need cheap here on the marketplace forum.

I´m mining with 10 280x and they are pointed at XMR for now, low network hashrate and a good chance to increase in value.
