I would like to try mining the Lyra2RE with sph-sgminer on linux but do not know which *.cl to use.

Is there one for it?

please comment.

the program decides itself the one it needs to use...
yeah (before you ask) you need to copy the entire directory which contains the cl files...

Thanks for the response.

I was with the understanding that it had to be specified with the "-k" option otherwise it defaulted to scrypt.

you still have to tell it to mine lyra2re... so "--kernel Lyra2RE"  (don't know if it is equivalent to "-k"... but probably...)

 Roll Eyes

--kernel lyra2RE ==> name of the algo / call whatever cl(s) it needs

Why are you staying away from sgminer 5?

ah, I didn't pay attention to that... (so many things which make no sense  Grin)

ps: what I don't get is that there is 2 or 3 threads speaking about lyra2re and all about sgminer5 but strangely he picked up the old version which doesn't contains lyra2re (at least I know what will be his next message: that 's doesn't work... )

thanks for the replies.

I have a 32 bit computer. I can not use sgminer 5 as I only can get a 64 bit binary.
I tried to compile the version 5 but as yet have not been successful.

I will try the --kernel lyra2RE option in sph-sgminer. (Edit: i get an invalid parameter error)

Edit: I realize I've been a bit unclear because most likely I do not know which question to ask. I may be able to run the Windows 32 bit version of sgminer 5 but the machine is set up for linux and I do not have to purchase a copy of the Windows OS. Be easier for me too, as I am a Windows person. Seems a bit harder to find binaries for Linux. I tried multiminer, but so far am unable to get linux version running which i think is the windows version run in a linux shell. so much to learn.

There is no point in trying with sph-sgminer because it isn't there, it was written for sgminer5 (don't know what is multiminer either)
it works on windows 32bit,  I am pretty sure the exe I gave was compiled with mingw32 (as some people were asking for 64bit version... )

I think you can find the exe somewhere on the vertcoin thread or here (together with the source): http://ge.tt/5zIW3972/v/0?c

ps: Don't understand your linux version story (especially if you want to run on windows), but if you want to compile from scratch you need to follow what is written in windows-build.txt in doc directory... (and it isn't complicated)
