I can run one if anyone is interested...I'd probably use officefootballpool.com...its the easiest way to track and enter picks. We can use an escrow for funds if necessary (Devthedev?)

Rather than a typical bracket, I was thinking maybe a survivor, pick 16, or squares

Survivor rules - pick one team every day of the tournament. You advance if that team wins - you can only pick a team once all tournament

Pick 16 rules - pick 16 teams and rank them 1-16...you pick your most confident team as 16, next confident 15, etc. You get the number of points you assigned them for every win they get in the tournament

Squares rules - basically like a typical Super Bowl...you get 2 numbers (winning and losing team) and every game you can win (ex. if you get winning 6 and losing 3...you would win a game that had a score of 76 73, or 56 43, etc.). The amount you win per game goes up by round.

I was thinking something like a 0.1 BTC buy in. What would you guys prefer as the game type?

As long as a trusted escrow is receiving/holding the money it I'm in for a traditional bracket and squares.  I think a confidence pick em is good, but it would need to be for every day and that's a lot to keep up with for everyone involved.  Same with a survivor, it takes a ton of planning and everyone needs to check in pretty much every day which is going to be tough for some people.

I have experience running both brackets and March Madness squares so I can assist with the set up and can let you know what kind of payout structures work for ones I've held before.  Again, assuming we can get an escrow to take/hold/payout the funds.

As far as the planning goes, idk if you've seen officefootballpool.com, but it takes care of everything for you. I've run several pools through it.

Regarding escrow, I think it would be pretty simple to find someone trusted to do so for us for a small fee.

The confidence pick isn't needed every day...you pick your 16 teams ahead of time and they are your teams all the way through.

I'll see if this generates more interest and if we have at least 10 people interested I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Right, I was talking more about the squares payouts.  We do half time and full times for all 63 games and have a pretty solid breakdown with escalating %s (so the championship game is worth the most).

With the confidence picks, I'm used to doing them every day, not once.

Either way, we've got a week I'm sure the closer it gets the more interest we'll have.

What don't you understand? Or is this a typical sig spamming post? I think meat did a good job explaining it in the OP.

I would be interested in a Survivor rules type pool but we would all probably be picking the same teams lol.

I really like the idea of the square pool with half time and finals...lots of chances to win. Only problem with that is you need to fill 100 boxes. Any other type can technically run with any amount of people.

Well with any squares pool you'd need all the boxes to be filled in otherwise you run the risk of a winning hit on an empty box.

But the thing is (as long as everyone agrees beforehand) the box buy in can be somewhat static.  So, for example, you say the buyin is .1BTC/box.  If you only get 10 people, now the price is .01/box and everyone has 10 boxes.  If you only get 25 people, everyone gets 4 .025BTC boxes.  Ect ect.  If there end up being a non-even number, have the last ones to send get partial refunds.  So, for example, if you only get 40 people, it would be .0333333BTC/box.  The first 20 to send would each get 3 boxes and the last 20 to send would each get 2 boxes and .0333333333BTC refunded.

Just an idea.

I like that idea...and it gives most chances to win.

Will see how much interest we can draw...I will update OP soon.
